Abby: Absolutely the most outstanding photos I have seen in years. I went through them twice already! I can't believe these colors! These pictures made my heart sing!
My favorite? The larger picture of the Dutch Belts in front of the blazing red trees. I'd buy that print in a heart beat!
You did a stupendous job and your weekend sounded quite successful and glad you didn't have rain! Looking forward to more shots tomorrow!
KUDOS to you!!!!!!

Great photos, Carol! Looks like the colors are great this year. I was planning to do the N. Conway area on Saturday for the day, but decided against it due to the weather forecast. I'll be up in the NEK next weekend and will check out some of the locations you suggested in a previous post. Unfortunately, there was "no room at the inns" in VT, so I'll be staying over in Lincoln, NH, but am hoping to make a wide loop up through northern VT and down through Stowe/Waterbury/Peacham back to NH on Saturday. Your pictures make me excited for the beautiful fall color (there is hardly any color here on the North Shore yet). Thanks for sharing!

As you can see I stayed close to home so I could help out folks coming next week. I really had a hard time staying away from Pittsburg when I got to Barton. I can't believe how good the colors are this year.

Stowe should be good next weekend. It's what I call early peak. The area between route US 2 and south toward Peacham might just past peak but still colorful. Peacham/Barnet is early and should be ready next weekend.

Abby: I'll look forward to more pictures before you head out on your long journey. Do I need to brace myself for more shocking color? I knew this season was going to be spectacular! I could feel it weeks ago! And it is evident in your photos. It is amazing to see the brilliancy in the pictures but to see it with the naked eye must have been heart pounding!
You must be very excited to get to Barton Thursday and I see a nice stretch of good weather is coming our way after the rains mid-week! We had a monsoon come through late evening in central CT and there was a lot of flooding! I've had enough!
See you on Saturday at the gondola! I can't wait to see you in person!
P.S. I'm really not your cheerleader, your photos are stellar and speak for themselves!

ahhh ct, I don't want "nice weather" lol I want "Cloudy but no rain weather", that's when the colors look the most stunning--bright sun in the mid day really mute the colors---anyway, can't wait to hear abby's Vermont report tomorrow night--Her NH report was so great, Patti and I wish we were up there RIght Now!! instead of Sat

My new motto is “Silence the weather man”. The weather reports are why I did not head up there. Was beginning to wonder Abby how it went. No rain LOL and I had you and your group on my mind the whole time, because it poured rain on me every day except Sunday.
It is obvious from your pics how the trip went.
Now I know where Oreo cookies come from.
Those are some very very nice foliage pictures and so are all the others.
Keep those pics rolling in.

weather looks good for our stay in Killington Vt--in the 30's every morning, and Sat thru Thur only one sunny day forecast(tues)--so hopefully, all the other days will be bright cloudy days, perfect for foliage viewing--so tues will be the day we go shopping lol--certainly plan to visit New Hampshire White Mountain area and the Kankamagus hwy as well as Rt 3 and Rt 302 Rt 118 etc.

--yes hurry! It'll be interesting to see how New Hampshire's blazing colors compare to Vermont's in Carol's opinion--poster neverminda liked NH's colors better but neverminda only saw Rt 114 in NEK, while pwt's Vermont observations were much more extensive ; and after reading pwt's riveting account of Vermont, it seems that actually both states are on a huge roll this Fall

Those were some of the most fantastic photos that I have observed. Apparently the foliage season is earlier than normal from last year. I made plans to be there from Oct 5-9th and have a concern that much of it might be past as for the NEK and the White Mountains. I generally pick an average time as for the above but I may have missed it some. Last year the foliage lasted much longer. Any opinions from you local New England People about how much earlier the foliage is over what it was last year. It appears to me that it might be a week or 10 earlier. Apparently the frost came much earlier. I usually make WRJ my base so I can go different directions easily. Any advice from you New England people who contribute to the forum.
