Early Color Report

Post: # 2588Post Jack

I have noticed during the past two days some early color change along Route 100 between Morrisville and Waterbury. Although the changes are still quite subtle, there are a few isolated red maples that are turning and some stressed sugar maples just starting. I think the chilly nights over the weekend helped, but today we were back in the 80's!

I came down through there this morning and it is changing in the wet areas. Route 100 north of Hyde Park is a little better. I took route 14 from East Montpelier to Hardwick so I could get a maple cree-mee at Bragg Farm and it's turning also.

Hmmm...maple creemees...they have very good ones over there at Bragg. Got a chance to do sugar on snow there again this past March...what a great treat!

I wonder if we crossed paths. I went there 3 time and twice to Morse. I can't wait for a maple frost donut at the Tunbridge Fair tomorrow.

PWT,

I actually tried looking for you a couple of weeks ago on my way out at the Montpelier Visitor Center. You still work there? I'm sure we'll cross paths eventually...not sure whether I am going to make it up to Vt. this foliage season.

No. I was transfered to the Georgia Southbound Welcome Center. That puts me real close to the People's Republic of Burlington. I was down to the Tunbridge Fair yesterday and one of the Fried Dough vendors (J.J.'s Doughboy) will slather some maple cream on you fried dough for a dollar. Man, was that Goood !!

It's a lot of fun. I had to go to a meeting in the Montpelier office. While I was waiting for the meeting to start I answered the phone and ended up giving advice over the phone for over an hour. They had to drag me out of the office. They told me the phone has been going nonstop for about a week.
