Suggestion for driving routes on Oct 17
Hi all,
I would be driving to Stowe on Oct 17 from Boston. I am inclined towards doing the Route 100 from Stamford VT to Stowe. Do you think it would be the right time to do that route. Looking at the foliage tracker it seems that the fall foliage is a week or two late.
Also, It would be great if someone can suggest some better routes during that time. Are there any romantic spots along the route 100 where we can stop by and hang around for a while.
Thanks for your help!

Re: Suggestion for driving routes on Oct 17
My advise is to stick to central and southern Vermont around that date. I fear Stowe will be well past peak by October 17th. I'd plan on Woodstock, Quechee, Killington, Weston, Manchester, Londonnderry, Dover, the Deerfield Valley. Look for the waterfall behind the theater in Weston. Maybe someone else can be more specific about this

Thanks for your suggestion.
I was thinking about watching the tree tunnel in the Smugglers notch park too. Do you have recommendations on any such tree tunnels that we can find along the route 100 or is that the only option?

Hi all,
Is route 100 from wilmington VT to Stowe VT still a good route to see fall colours this weeekend?
Saw some posts reporting its not at peak yet.

many hills in the woodstock, pomfret, bridgewater and quechee area are still increasing in color intensity and look like they will continue to be good for at least five or six days if there is no wind.

The NWS is predicting high winds and rain/snow showers starting on Friday night and continuing through the weekend. Lower elevations would probably offer the best foliage by next weekend. Route 5, Route 7 and Route 30 will probably offer the best color.
