Looking for best routes to see bright fall colors on Oct

Hi Guys
A friend of mine is flying from Detroit to stay with us(in Boston) for the weekend. We are planning for a day trip on Oct 2nd to catch some good fall colors. Any help for best route(either in NH or VT) would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

In Vermont it's the northeast section. Anywhere from route 100 and east and route 15 and north. In (booo) New Hampshire anywhere from route 112 and north.
