Those are great shots. I have never been to Owl's Head and want to get there this vacation!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to see more of your photography from VT this season!

E: Thats the fall I was talking about in the earlier thread. Wow. Its a lot bigger than it was in 2006. But its was a very dry summer and fall that tear.
Nice images. Groton SF is clearly a good spot!

Beautiful and inspiring pictures. A picture speaks a thousand words so is wonderful having people share so others on this Fall Foliage Forum have the opportunity to enjoy viewing the beatiful places as colors progress along in Vermont and also eases anxiety of those who have yet to arrive in Vermont. Thanks so much for posting them. Folks keep posting your wonderful updates and pictures!
On another note, anyone know why one of the beautiful areas is called Owl's Head?

Greatg shots! I especially love the waterfall and the last one looking up through the trees. I was out hunting early this morning and took a quick ride up through the state forest. Colors are coming along great. The are always so vibrant on wet days! You should see that waterfall in your picture today. Just roaring with all this rain!

I've always loved that area. I just hope I can find time to take Ctyanky there. I need about a month to take her where she wants to go right now.

Phil, bm, someone....Take me to Owls Head. I need to go there. I have to go there. We have one free day left. Or maybe it's just a half day......
Re: 9/28 Rt 302 photos
I stop at Owl's Head every time I've visit Vermont. It is indeed a beautiful spot. One thing photographer's should know about it is that the gate on the road is locked until 8:00 AM or until someone gets there to open it. I wanted to photograph the area early and arrived well before sunrise only to find the locked gate. You can park along the road and hike but it is a long walk. I opted to shoot Ricker Pond instead and was rewarded with fog rising off the pond.
Two years ago, stormy skies made for lousy photos at Owl's Head, but just down the road, the sun popped through the pouring rain and I photographed a beautiful double rainbow with peak color on the mountains beyond.
Sigh! How I wish I was in Vermont now.

Hi Al: I wish you were here too. I miss seeing you this season..... If you were here I would go with you to Owls Head I'm thinking since Friday is our only open day this week maybe we can go. I'll have to convince Phil. May not be an easy task.
