What time to photograph snow geese?
What time of day is the best time to photograph the snow geese? Am, noon or afternoon, so that the sun isn't right in our face.
We are going up in the morning, but it's a 3 hr drive up there from here. We plan on staying overnight.
Any foliage left, if so so what do you suggest?
Thanks Shirley

BM is right. You will be fighting the sun all day. I've had good luck shooting southeast and southwest. When the food gets low the geese will go to the north side, but I'm not sure when that will be. In the morning I go to the east side of the flock and do the opposite in the afternoon. If the flock is close to the fence there are great opportunities for some great action shots if you have manual focus and a good zoom. It's not unusual for me to shoot 400 digital photos. It's quite a show.

Thanks for the map, I printed it out. Do you park near the refuge headquarters on 17? I guess you'll will just see the fence that they might be up close to?
I'll be shooting 300 digital.

Just be aware the the geese may leave a souvenir on you or your car. It took me a while to get my windshield cleaned last Sunday.
