Drove Boston to St. Johnsbury on 10/01/21. Franconia Notch and Lincoln town area were 25 to 30% turned at best. About a week later than normal, maybe 10 to 14 days later than 2020. In the immediate St. J area, I'd say 30% to 45% turned Drove north on Rt 114 to Jobs Pond, and it got better the further north you go. I did not go as far as Island Pond, but distant views seemed like 70% to 80% near Island Pond. Along Rt. 114 near Jobs there were pockets of 90% turned. Jobs Pond itself had some color (but not all red as is often the case), but again looks to be about a week later than normal. Tomorrow going up to Averill and maybe Pittsburg, NH, and will report on conditions further north of Jobs.

My gut feeling is it's about a week later than normal. Forecast is for 4 days of rain which likely won't help speed things up.

Arrived in Brownington mid-afternoon from Boston. As edmcguirk says, colors got better as I traveled north. Spent some time at the Crystal lake, Bean Pond and May Pond. Bean Pond was especially nice. But colors still seem a bit muted. May be more will turn in the next couple of days?

Feels funny to be flying in from California and sitting inside the cabin for the next 3 days :-(

Hope you are kidding :-) . You can't sit inside just because of a few raindrops. If it helps, the more "local" forecasters, are showing gradually better as the days go by, with most of the rain being south after Sunday, and even Sunday and Monday being on and off rain. Take a rain coat and hopefully you have a rain hood for your gear (if not kitchen garbage bags work :-) ) and get out there and shoot! There are lots of foliage shots that actually look good when things are overcast and wet, as it tends to show more saturation in the color. After spending all that time planning and the $$ to get to VT from CA, you cannot just sit inside your cabin!

LoL - no, I am actually out, and I do have rain protectors for my camera. It's been more of a drizzle than rain actually.

Seeing a lot of brown around, so if anybody has seen some nice pops north of St Johnsbury please post.

Here's May Pond from yesterday, straight from Camera's wifi.
