I like the Taconic Parkway. I think it starts as the Sprain Brook Parkway in (gasp) White Plains. I've never been down that far so I'm not 100% sure of that. When you get up to Chatham, Ny., get off and take route 203 EAST to route 22, turn left and go to route 7 in Hoosick. Then take route 7 east to Bennington.

Bear in mind that NY route 7 turns into Vermont route 9 at the state line... not to be confused with the totally different VT route 7 which goes north from Bennington. --c
