Oh no!!! I do not want to believe the latest update I read about Farmbrook Motel. mmvt, please elaborate what you mean by the Farmbrook Motel being on an Island. If you can, describe what the area looks like, please do. Are you referring to it being on an "Island" only because the bridge over the stream by Route 100A is missing? Or has the stream down by the road now expanded to surround the motel buildng? Farmbrook Motel was such an unique sight with a babbling brook flowing under it down to the stream by the road. Did the babbling brook under the motel destroy the building? This is such an icon on Route 100A; and by that, meaning it was such a beautiful place which was admired by so many who drove Route 100A. It was sad news when Farmbrook Motel announced it would be closed for the season but your report even makes it more sadder to hear how you described it.

Thanks mmvt for sharing your eyewitness account of how the destructive flooding from the Tropical storm, created by Hurricane Irene, in September, devastanated a very beautiful place, the Farmbrook Motel, on Scenic 100A in Plymouth, Vermont.
Folks, reread mmvt's 10/1/11 post of this thread then click on the Farmbrook Motel's website to grasp the
"before and after" affects.

Before

See pictures on Farmbrook Motel website below

After (mmvt reported)

babbling brook under motel----obviously was raging
center part of motel looks precarious
bridge is gone!
Front entrance---inaccessable to Route 100A
Trees are gone
Entire area filled with rocks

Following a recuperation period, may Farmbrook Motel resume its role of being a special landmark on Scenic Route 100A!
