For all those worried about the foliage. Here are some photos from the NEK Yesterday. Yes they have been photoshoped but anybody knows you cant enhance what wasn't there to begin with. I only use a nikon coolpix no fancy camera.

Here is the link. only 1 album so far 6 pics but a good example of what was seen.

Your photos are breathtaking! I love each and every one of them especially the first one titled May's Pond. I have never seen such beautiful foliage. We will be up in Littleton, NH on Oct 5-8. I don't know the proximity to the NEK but if you are familiar w/the area what drives would you suggest.

Thank you very much. I am not at all a professional. Well oct 4-7 I will be in Lincoln nh! You are close to NEK. You can be in st J in 1/2 hour. The route I used yesterday was 18 from Littleton to st.J Rt 2 west. Rt 5 N to VT 16 MAy's pond rd is dirt and off VT 16. Then bacn to VT 16 to Lake Willougby then 5N south back to 5 in Lyndonville. I didn't have a lot of time up there yesterday as it was a day trip only and it took me 3 hours just to get to ST. J then 3 hours home. But I did what I wanted to do, get a preview of the colors. I may post a few more on my site later today after I do my errands.

Thanks for posting these. You've coaxed me off the edge, but I'm still nervous!

What do you think about the weather for this weekend? Yesterday NWS said sunny for Sunday, now they are forecasting rain and blustery! Is it going to be gray and rainy the whole weekend?

Nice pictures! I am going up to NEK this weekend too and I hope the weather won't be horrible. I have never been to that part of the state, so it will be an adventure !

I added a few more pics this afternoon. Added Lincoln NH, Lake Willoughby, and a few other spots along the way. Some pics I fought with shadows and sunlight but it provides a good sampling of what I saw. Phil you are closer than you think. As the upper low departs later Sunday into Monday, snow could very well fall and accumulate across the Northeast's highest peaks. May make for some spectacular shots next week!

I really had bad lighting at Lake Willoughby, but there was one shot I put in there that was decent. I've always found NEK peaks 4-7 days ahead of the White Mtns. But with a little rain and some cold, I willing to bet next week will see rapid transformations in colors. We are left under this pesky upper low next few days periods of clouds some sun and some showers but not looking for any washouts like today. Poor CT. I always end up somewhere up there the first week of October. Usually I concentrate on the White MTns but I suspect i will spend a day or two in the NEK. I actually found May's Pond by accident. Looking at the topo maps it's higher up than Willoughby or Crystal lakes.

CT you are so welcome. Hey I might tease you a bit, but your one of the good ones. if you can post some pics of your journeys, I would love to see how the foliage progresses as i will be back Tuesday. If it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't have gotten foliage fever so bad I was chomping at the bit to get up there, even though I will be there next week! One good turn deserves another!

Thanks, WXMAN. Those colors look GOOD. I am envious. I haven't caught them like that on any of my recent trips to VT. And SNOW! That would be a Major Bonus! I am anticipating some great shots this week! BRING EM.

It is the thanks and appreciation of all you wonderful folks that keeps me going. Keep looking andy. I did have to hunt around to find the colors. In a few days they will pop. I will be on the road next week so i will post more pictures as I go. But you will have to deal with some GASP NH photos too! Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read my threads. I love it here. I haven't met any of you yet, but I feel as if I have many times. Thank you for making me feel so welcome.

Great pics! I'm a newbie on here, so I hope I'm not hijacking the thread, but I wanted to see if I can post properly...

The Willoughby area East and toward Newark and IP seem to be the most progressed and near peak. There also seems to be a lot of deep reds this year. Here's a pic looking east toward Willoughby lake, taken 9/27/2011.

Scorpion: Post came out fine. Note that it is very easy to start your own thread, however. But we aren't real formal here.
