We started the day in Newfane, to clear blue skies:

Then on to Townsend:

Athens Pond was something Rich caught out of his peripheral vision as we sped past on the way to Grafton. This is where GIC parted company with us, heading South in search of more colorful foliage:

Rich and I continued on to Grafton, which turned out to be an afternoon photo spot and we were too early. Instead, we settled for a sandwich and coffee at the store in the downtown -- we resisted the urge to go into the Vermont Country Store :) . Next stop, Weston, which is a really cool little town with a nice common and this Church with a dam and waterfall. But for the lack of leaves and all the powerlines (I did some selective removal), it is a very photogenic little church!:

Disappointed with the foliage in this region, we decided to head over to Woodstock and Cloudland Road. On the way, we drove over the notch at Plymouth and made the obligatory stop at the Calvin Coolidge Historical Homestead:

We also found this nice farm over the river in Bridgewater:

We found there was some foliage still left on Cloudland Road. But same refrain --- 1 -2 weeks ago was better (although they did confirm that our timing was essentially "right" -- it was just that MN wasn't cooperating). We had a blue sky, virtually cloudless day until we found our first shot on Cloudland Road. Where did THIS sky come from???? But the light was still really nice on this subject:

And, just in case you might have though the Sleepy Hollow Farm was not still there, here's my 2010 "record" shot:

If it sounds too good to be true, its probably . . . .
