Re: NEK Romp 9/28/11

This post scares me. Am I screwed for this weekend? Colder weather on saturday/sunday...yes, but do the colors pop immediately or several days later (when I'm gone)?

Re: VERMONT PONDS AND LAKES

Owl's head overlook....WOW! That photo is stunning. How do I get there? Is that a hike or is that view from the road? edit: nevermind I think I found the directions in an old thread: "About a mile south of the New Discovery Road look for a sign for Owls Head and a road on the left side nearby. Drive...

Re: weather forecast-need advice

possible flurries sat evening in the higher elevations:

COLDER AIR ALOFT WILL MOVE IN ON SATURDAY AND IT APPEARS THAT SNOW LEVELS WILL LIKELY
DROP TO AROUND 2000 OR 2500 FEET LATER ON SATURDAY. THUS ANY
SHOWERS IN THE MOUNTAINS WOULD BE IN THE FORM OF SNOW.

VERMONT PONDS AND LAKES

I've read a lot of old threads and seen a bunch of these different lake and pond names thrown around...Willoughby, Island, Lewis, etc. I thought a thread specifically about this subject might be useful. Which ones are your favorites and why? What's special about them. etc.?

Re: Excursion Planning

Hi RIMHfire, you helped me in my thread, maybe I can return the favor. This is my first trip to Vermont but I've done major research on places to eat. I'm staying in Woodstock and here are a couple places where we'll be dining: Barnard Inn: north of woodstock in barnard http://barnardinn.com/ Cloudl...

Re: First Trip To Vermont! (itenerary help)

For other first timers who might read this thread, here is a great thread that I bookmarked from last year with lots of suggestions for "must see" routes: http://www.scenesofvermont.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=2358&highlight=kancamagus Abby: Bragg Hill Road....added to the list, thank you! Andy: If I...

Re: First Trip To Vermont! (itenerary help)

Thank RIMHfire and PWT54. Based on the replies so far here's my revised itenerary: 9/30 Arrive boston, drive right up I-93 and do the Kanc (it seems 10/3 might be late for the kanc) 10/1 NEK: morning do the NEK Central loop (from the great drives thread), afternoon do a Peacham/Danville/Cabot/Groton...

Re: First Trip To Vermont! (itenerary help)

Thanks everyone for the replies so far. Great advice on some places to go and things to do! I think I'm pretty set on Saturday being a NEK day. I plan on doing the "NEK central drive" outlined in the drives thread. And I'll stop at the Groton Festival. I need help though with Sunday (10/2) and Monda...

First Trip To Vermont! (itenerary help)

I've planned a foliage trip to Vermont for 4 straight years now. And each year I've had to cancel for one reason or another. So you can blame me for Irene, it's the universe's way of trying to prevent my trip from happening again. ;) Well Irene be damned, I'm still coming! I've browsed the forum for...

The models strongly favor td12 to be a fish. It's way too early to say for sure but odds are that it will be a fish storm.

WXMAN76 mentioned la nina. A pretty strong la nina has developed which would tend towards a warm fall for the NE.

Thanks pwt54, ixl, and others! You have succeeded in calming my nerves! I'm feeling pretty good about my trip now. MMVT, great point about avoiding the crowds, I'm also a fan of that. I'm sure it'll make getting around a lot easier. pwt54 or anyone else, is there a particular route that you would re...

On the other hand, shifting your day in Maine by over a week would be noticeable. Where in Maine will you be? Well, we're not going to Maine for foliage. We're going to the White Barn Inn in Kennebunkport for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. We may have part of an afternoon over there. I figure...

Thanks for the replies. I'm feeling a little better about this. I don't really care whether it's the NEK or the southern part of the state, I just want to see some good foliage. So it seems that I should have pretty good odds of finding it somewhere during that time frame. I'm based in Woodstock whi...
