Driving from Boston to Stowe Tomorrow

Hi Everyone! Making this drive tomorrow with the family. Wondering if there are places that are peak right now that I should hit along the way before they move past peak? Even if I have to go a bit out of the way, that's fine. Is the kanc past peak? Groton state forrest area past peak? Other suggest...

Re: Foliage forecast update

Thinking about making a last minute trip up from Florida. Dates would be 10/10-14. A little later than I would normally like, but is foliage running late this year? What do you guys think of those dates?

Re: How to get there and openings

I just did a couple of these roads last weekend. I drove Cloudland Road only up to Cloudland Farm (highly recommend for dinner!) and it was open that far. Beyond that I don't know but a couple locals told me they thought it was open. Bragg Hill Road is on the west side of 100 just north of the inter...

Re: 10/2-10/3 100/gap roads/nek

Thanks for the info Phil, I find those sort of details fascinating. The topic of trees brings me to two other questions: 1. What is that tree that has all the silver leaves? It seriously looks like someone spray painted all the leaves bright silver. That is the most unique and interesting tree we sa...

Re: 10/2-10/3 100/gap roads/nek

Common Road was on the list, but I ended up skipping it because 1. It was really socked in with fog at the time and 2. the color along 100 wasn't very good. Instead I opted to drive up into the higher elevations on the west side of 100 like the gap roads. I hit bragg hill and german flats cause they...

10/2-10/3 100/gap roads/nek

This report is a little late cause I've been traveling back home. We had a great trip! Sunday 10/2 Started in Stowe, did Smugglers Notch, down to 15, back over to 100. Then did 100 all the way to Rochester hitting gap roads 17, Lincoln, and 125. Color was early and muted all along 100. Best color wa...

Re: Nek central loop (from the drives thread). 10/1

Ha! Thats great! I saw a couple cars out there and wondered if it was anyone from the forum. When we turned onto sugarbush there was a car sitting there (taking pictures?). We waited for tht car to pull away so we could snap a shot. Perhaps that was you? Also, i completely agree with you on the cond...

Nek central loop (from the drives thread). 10/1

First, thanks to from_the_nek for providing this wonderful drive. Despite the rain we had a blast! Favorite roads: Pudding hill, underpass, 16, hinton hill, newark, darling hill. Also we hit may pond which was awesome. May pond, may pond road, and 16 inthat vicinity may have had the best color of th...

Re: photos NEK romp 9/29

Thanks for posting these. You've coaxed me off the edge, but I'm still nervous!

What do you think about the weather for this weekend? Yesterday NWS said sunny for Sunday, now they are forecasting rain and blustery! Is it going to be gray and rainy the whole weekend?
