Re: tomorrow Bennington to the NEK

You mean Vern's? It's been closed for years. I ate there once -- was not impressed. You want good fish and chips? Go to Price Chopper. Pick out a cod or tilapia filet, and ask them to cut it up and fry it for you. Excellent stuff. Seriously, do it all the time with my kids, since my wife is allergi...

Re: tomorrow Bennington to the NEK

I sent Carol some suggestions by email.. but TBH I have not been out and about much this season. Color is looking much better this morning... starting to get going nicely despite the oddly warm weather, and actually looks decent for the first time this year. Crazy Russian Girls is a great bakery an...

Re: My conundrum

I really wanted to go to the Catskills this year. But that is as much for the history (developing a real interest in the first and second "golden ages" of the resorts (Catskill Mountain House era and the Grossingers/Concord era). I wanted to do some of the easy hikes that allow me to combine both th...

Re: tomorrow Bennington to the NEK

Thank you everybody!!!! Yes, we will hit the Blue Benn. Mr. S will be very happy to get a good breakfast (you know, as he is the long suffering one....he at least needs to be fed well while he suffers) I also need to go back to a post where someone (perhaps it was dean) recommended a bakery....

Re: Canvas prints?

I second the view of MPix. I have a large photo I took of Yosemite valley framed over my fireplace that they had printed and I am very happy with it. I have not yet availed myself of theie canvas product but they are pretty focused on quality and protecting their reputation so I have to think you'll...

Re: Engagement Photo shoot locations?

Sorry, aside from one trip years ago, my experience is all SW Vermont. Pretty broad experience here and I am sure someone will have some insights. I am in a somewhat similar boat as I have a couple getting married in SW Vermont who would like some casual and scenic photos taken. I have lots of sites...

Re: SW VT and Berkshires report

That prediction seems to be based on models showing a tropical system moving up the coast, which our resident 'caster WXMAN mentioned earlier. It's still pretty far out though, so I wouldn't panic quite yet... "Panic" is my default setting when it comes to my travels. That way I have "worst case" h...

Re: SW VT and Berkshires report

Not so far, but it's not over yet. Supposed to be clear and cold the next few days. We'll know by early next week if that was enough to make things "pop". I just checked the weather forecast and Thursday, Friday and Saturday (13th through the 15th) are all show "showers". Are you frigging kidding m...

Re: How about rainy days and Sundays??????

We will keep the t-shirts simple. we'll put Got Foliage? on the front and a map of our favorite spots in Vermont on the back! Including all of our favorite spots would go far beyond "simple"! :D Also, if some tourists see those maps, they will hold you down while they take notes. Not saying leaf ph...

I always just assume that the manual is thrown in either because of government requirements or as additional padding. It never occurs to me to read it, unless I have a specific issue, and even then I am more likely to just use Google...

Re: How about rainy days and Sundays??????

We are going to have to have t-shirts made: "I have taken the Burton Hill Road photo".

No way I'll make it this year but next year that shot is A-1 on my list!

Re: SW VT and Berkshires report

Actually Dean, I think it's waiting for me to arrive on the 11th, and I will tell it to stick around until after the 13th for you. I guess all we can do is hope for some good changes. I'm looking forward to it either way.....but some decent foliage wouldn't hurt! :P Carol I shall happily tak...
