Foliage Report
Keep in mind that I'm writing this before my 3rd cup of coffee. :? I drove up to the Island Pond area yesterday. Foliage change is just beginning. Routes 100,58, and 5a are still in the beginning stage. I took the Hinton Hill Road from Lake Willoughby over to the end at the Hudson Road. There is som...

I'm heading up to the NEK to check the foliage today. Might check northern NH also.

Foliage update
Had to go to "Mont-peculiar" to do errands and do lunch at the Wayside Restaurant. After that we went to Bragg Farm for a maple creamee. We took rt 100 through Stowe and there wasn't much in the way of color change there. Just a hint of color in the higher elevations. We took route 14 to Hardwick. C...

I was down to the Tunbridge Fair Sunday. The colors were not as far along as usual, but they are changing. I don't think we are that far behind in foliage change.

Re: Planning First Fall Foliage Trip 2015
For Oct 3-7, I would stay in Killington. Peak color should be starting there. I would drive around north of the Killington area first and end your tour south of Killington last. There is a covered bridge beside route 100 in Pittsfield and one on Main Street in Warren Village, off route 100. Route 10...

Today I went to Peacham. Route 15 from Johnson to Walden is past peak! Cabot and the Danville Hill Road was okay. The Mack Mountain Road itself was very nice but the hillsides were showing bare spots. Peacham was good. The leaves in this area are near the end of peak. If tomorrow's storm isn't too b...

Re: Planning around my fixed reservations @ Stowe & Lyndon :
I was down in the Peacham area today. The color is still good. The tailend of peak color. If the storm tomorrow isn't too bad the color should hold up for a few days. Color gets better farther south of Peacham. I drove route 25 from Bradford, VT to route 302 in Topsham. Better color. Route 302 west ...

Re: Oct 2nd Itinerary
I'd do the Kancamagus Highway as soon as possible.
Colors in Stowe are hanging on very well and are just peaking in Waitsfield.
The notches have some bare spots, but still have a lot of color.
Pray for light winds and rain. The leaves are barely hanging on north of US 2.

Re: Advice/Suggestions for Columbus Day Weekend
Your first night in Burlington is where you need to be this late in foliage season. I would try to find a place to stay in Rutland instead of Wilmington. There won't be much color there this late. Work the west side of the State. Route 30 is more fun for me than route US 7. Route 30 from Manchester ...

I was down in the Bristol and Middlebury areas yesterday. Foliage is very early down there. Should be good for Columbus Day. I like driving route 30.

Re: Suggestions for Wednesday (10/1)? Map of where I have be
The leaves are hanging on very well around here. Unless we get high winds the color should be good in the NEK. Colors are strong In Waitsfield but not quite peak yet. Anywhere north of Route US 4 and east of route 116 should good.

I drove up over route 17 from Waitsfield to Bristol. Colors were peaking from the Mad River Glen Ski Area to Jerusalem. Colors were early from there to route US 7. West of route US 7 the colors were just starting.

Re: Oct 2 Foliage tour of NEK
It's a good drive. I'm not that fond of the Irasburg to Newport section. It does have color, but it's scattered. I prefer to drive route 58 all the way to route 5A in Westmore. Eating places will be scarce, but when you reach route 100 in Lowell and it's near lunchtime. turn left and drive route 100...
