RE: Groton SF / Owl's Head

I visited Owl's Head and Kettle Pond this year so I thought I'd add some knowledge to this thread. The gate to Owl's Head opened around 9:15ish the two days I went by. I walked up around 8:30 the one day and met another photographer who was on his way down. If you're in good shape, it's about a 30 m...

I love the shot of the sunlight striking the steeple of the church. It's perfect. I believe that's from Peacham? What a beautiful village. I also really like the shot of the cow-- I'm such a sucker for cow pictures. :)

Good Bible verse too!

Darrin,
I really enjoyed these. My favorites were of the waterfall around #10/#11 in the slideshow and the close-ups of the leaves. The waterfall shots are really well done. Is that Moss Glens Falls near Stowe? Or the other Moss Glens Falls? I need to put that on my "must see" list.

From_the_NEK, My wife and I took your central NEK driving loop and it was _incredible_. Thank you so much-- that had to be a lot of work for you to put that together. Pudding Hill Rd, Darling Hill Rd, Hinton Hill Rd... amazing. I will say that next time I would skip Wheeler Mtn Rd. We had an SUV so ...

Photos from my week in Vermont and New Hampshire

Hi all, I hope you'll take a minute to peruse my favorite shots from my vacation. I spent 10/3 - 10/10 exploring VT and NH, primarily the Northeast Kingdom and the Franconia/Crawford Notch areas. I want to give a big thank you to pwt, From_the_NEK, and Andy for all their helpful posts. A lot of my f...

They got some snow last night on Mt Washington (about 2/3 the way down the page). Looks like a beautiful morning in New England.

boonlong,
I gather there should be plenty of color in the southern part of the state and the Champlain valley at that time.

Is there any direction to go that might miss the brunt of the storm on Saturday? Or is this a pretty big storm?

Thanks for the report. It sounds like no serious downpours? A little rain never hurt anybody. I think the report is a little better than it had sounded a couple days ago. At least we could get some decent weather Monday/Tuesday. :)

pwt,
Will the road to Lewis Pond (and other dirt roads) be difficult to manage after a decent rain? Or just messy?

Great tips, thanks! If the weather is as bad as expected this weekend, I plan on hitting Groton State Forest and maybe some waterfalls.

Lefferts Pond and Chittenden Reservoir are pretty close by. I've never been to either, so take it for what it's worth. But David Middleton lists Lefferts Pond as his 3rd favorite lake in his Photographers Guide to Vermont. He lists Lake Bomoseen, also not far away, as a top sunset spot.

Really nice photos, Carol! My favorite is the second shot of the river. The trees almost look like they're glowing!

I hope it clears up a bit too. Forecasts more than 5 days out have always struck me as guesswork though.
