Re: how to maximise 2 days

Look up Dixville Notch on your map. It is is northern NH. You will find a Grand Hotel there called the Balsams. It is worth a stay! Your visit is more suited to northern Vermont..called the Northeast Kingdom. Check the lodging listings on this site under Burke, Lyndonville, Montgomery, Jay, Cratfsbu...

Re: woodstock,VT

You may have to find your foliage colors further south at this time. Try to push your arrival date forward a week. The Woodbridge Inn is good value. The rooms are spotless and tastefully decorated. As far as I recall, there is a shower stall in each room along with basin and toilet. The place is wel...

Re: Places to stay?

Here's a tip that is a little different....if you are going to be in northern Vermont, why not cross the border into Quebec and try the hamlet of North Hatley? We are just putting together a site about this area: http:// www.borderadventures.com. You'll enjoy high class french cuisine and beautiful ...

Re: Arriving Barre 9/21/05 - Good Time For Peeping?

The dates of your travel in Vermont will be perfect for the central and northern half of the state. The Northeast Kingdom maybe in full color at that time. Nothing beats Northeast Kingdom foliage. As well, the roads are far less travelled. No doubt PWT can give you some routes to follow...otherwise ...

Re: Where hotel location?

Woodstock gives you good access to south and central Vermont. Stowe gives you good access to Montpelier and northern Vermont. The best foliage is often in northern Vermont, but it starts a little earlier than when you will be here. So plan on covering central and southern Vermont..you should see ple...

Re: Where hotel location?

Hello Irene: I would suggest you try Woodstock. Go to this site to view about 20 inns and BBs all with separate web pages that link to the main sites. You will have to act quickly. I am sure the rooms are filling up. Many of these sites have an availiabliity chart that you can see if they have vacan...

Re: Foliage 2004 Experiences wanted!

Glad to read that you had a good time. You can post a few photos here, or link to your own personal web site if you have one. The other alternative is to send us a CD of your photos and if they merit it, we can make a slide show out of them.

Re: Planning NE honeymoon next Oct.

Your timetable for hitting Vermont is good, but you maybe a little early for the Woodstock area. If that happens, make allowance to head north up I-91 to the Northeast Kingdom. As you travel the highway north, you will see the foliage change...there is usually about a week's difference between the n...

Re: SW Vermont report 10/13

I am amazed by what is happening in the Northeast Kingdom, or maybe i should say ...not happening. There is still some good color here and wonderful picture taking opportunities with the clear sky on Wednesday and Thursday. The best bets are secluded spots like roads buried in valleys that make a ki...

Rain in the south?

Just spoke to someone in Lebanon (around noon on Tuesday). They said it was raining hard and some of the leaves were falling off the trees. Would be interested to know what people are seeing in southern and central Vermont? Is the rain doing much harm? Here in the Kingdom we are at peak and although...
