Re: Headed up Tomorrow

I was down in the Killington area and the colors were great. The Woodstock area should be just as good.

Day 3 with ctyanky

Day 3 with ctyanky was another perfect day. There was no fog this morning, so I was able to see the colors. They were great. The leaves are hanging on thanks to the lack of high winds. Things are looking good and there should be great color north of Stowe this weekend. This will change on Monday. We...

Re: Oct 11-13 weekend

Southern Vermont will have the best color at that time. The highlands along route 100 and route 9 may not have much color left. Stay in the lowlands between Springfield and Brattleboro in southeast VT and between Bennington and Rutland in southwest VT.

Re: US Government Shutdown! Would it has effect on Vermont?

I'm in good humor after 2 days of "foli-asms" with ctyanky and the gang of foliage fanatics. The weather has been awesome the last 2 weeks. While we are now in an official shutdown, this government has been pretty well shutdown for a few years. As long as we keep sending the same clowns down to Wash...

Re: US Government Shutdown! Would it has effect on Vermont?

I don't expect any problems in Vermont. Our foliage doesn't need any government money to change color. Because air travel is considered essential, it will be operating normally.

Great photos everyone. But no camera can do the colors justice.
I'm still not sure how eggs do that free range thingy. I know the chickens can do it okay.

Re: Lewis pond in a car??

Next week will be too late for good foliage up there. Central Vermont will be the best with southern Vermont coming on strong.

Montpelier Mess

Starting today the northbound on ramp at exit 8 in Montpelier will be closed. They are removing some crumbling ledges. This will take a month. This means that if you are in Montpelier City and you want to go to Stowe or Burlington, you will not be able to use interstate I-89 to do it. Use route US 2...

Foli-asm part 2

Sorry for the delay of my report. I had relatives from Quebec visiting. We met at 10 am in Waitsfield. The fog was just burning off. The colors looked good. It looks like reak color was just begining down there. It should be great this weekend. The first thing we had to go was the barn on the Bragg ...

Re: Current areas in the NEK for orange/red color?

I would do route 232 through the Groton State Forest. This road starts off route US 2 just east of Marshfield village and ends at route 302 in Groton. The colors were fantastic last Sunday. Look for the Owl's Head Road on the left side. There is a sign for the road. drive to the parking lot and hike...

Re: Arriving Oct 5th!

Ctyanky and I were down in the Lyndonville area this afternoon and it looked great. The highlands of the Stannard Mountain Road is fading, but low down in elevation the colors are good. I would work south of St. Johnsbury. It looks like the Peacham/Barnet area will be good this weekend. On the New H...

Foli-asms with ctyanky

Well. I've just got back from driving ctyanky around foliage heaven. I'm bushed! So I'll give you a quick report. It was foggy all the way from Johnson to Waitsfield. I didn't see anything. We took route 100 to Middlesex and then some back roads to route 12. As soon as we got to Shady Rill we drove ...

Re: Report from Carol (abby) from the NEK!!!!

I was up at Hazen's Notch yesterday. It looks great up there. Colors look the best above Eden. Belvidere Pond just begining to peak. The route 15 corridor from Jeffersonville to Morrisville looks early, but there is a lot of color.

This forum has been a safety valve for me. All of this information is bottled up inside me and my brain is ready to explode. When I was working at the rest areas I never had this problem.
