Re: My itinerary, please advise..

Vermont State Road 25 (aka Waits River Road) runs between 302 and 5. I think its also accessible from I91 near 5. It goes generally northwest/southeast. East Orange is on East Orange Road which starts at 25 and goes West. It actually comes off 25 in two places in a little triangle. Its easy to miss-...

Re: Jeffersonville 10/7-10/14

DLM: No, I haven't done the Mt. Washington Toll Road, but again, the Mansfield Toll -- I did it last year -- should not be any problem.

bm: I assumed he meant the Mt. Mansfield Toll Road. I know, I know, when you assume . . . . :)

Re: Wind and Rain

Hey PWT: I have seen a photo of Fairfax in one of the photo books about Vermont. Is there a shot of the village from a high vantage point? Do you know what direction that shot is from and whether its a morning sun or afternoon sun shot?

Re: Jeffersonville 10/7-10/14

The Toll Road is steep with switchbacks. Its also gravel and there are some washout spots-- but not so deep you cannot go around them. I have seen many regular cars make the trip the several timss I have done it. It will work on your brakes a little on the way down -- but just take it easy and you s...

Re: My itinerary, please advise..

Here is my 2 cents, Anil: It looks to be about 160 miles from Boston to Waits River on Waits River Road. There are "classic" shots there (If you go the the terrascaping link in this thread, you will see the photographer's shots of Waits River, E. Corinth, E. Topsham, etc.). The Waits River shot is a...

Re: Peacham/Groton, oh yeah !!

Hmmn. I don't remember No parking signs -- that may be something new. There is a big area in front of the garage, and we did NOT park there. Instead, we parked in the area over to the side, where it did not appear we would interfere if they needed to use it. When we were there, there were -- off and...

Re: Peacham/Groton, oh yeah !!

I have only been there from the north (Route 2 around Danby), but if you come into the main downtown and turn at the little general store (turn right rfom the north and left from the south). Go past the Town hall (on the right) and keep going up the hill. After you pass the Town Hall, you will come ...

Re: Northeast Kingdom

Tim: This is exactly the kind of information that makes this forum so great. I was planning to drive up there last year, but didn't get there. If I get over to Burke this year, I'll know enough not to do it. I have been up the Mansfield toll road a number of times and agree with your thoughts on the...

Re: Peacham/Groton, oh yeah !!

My uploaded photos were from last year. I put that right in the narrative. While it is true we are all anxious to know what is happening this year, I still think prior year's photos are useful. In some cases, I have read about places, but never seen them. A photo will tell me whether I want to go th...

Thanks for that, BM -- assuming there are still leaves on the trees, I'll definitely check that out!

Re: Photographing in 1st & 2nd week Oct

Thanks for the info PWT. On my DeLorme Street Atlas software, I see a road going NorthEast off 113 that is called Eagle Hollow and looks like it eventualy becomes Goose Green Road. Is that it? (I know the DeLorme and MapQuest stuff can sometimes be wrong).

Re: Photographing in 1st & 2nd week Oct

Hi PWT: I have mostly confined my limited participation on this board to colors, timing, etc. However, like the originator of this thread, I am a photographer. I am fortunate to have relatives who will put me up (or perhaps, put up with me :) ), so I have a "base of operations." But I, too, am looki...

Re: Nervous about missing foliage in Stowe Oct 11-15

Autumn: I, too, started to get a little nervouse. I will be there about a week before you, staying mostly in the Northern part of the state, not far from Stowe. What is nice about the State is that most of it is reachable in a "day drive" from Stowe. My plans were centered around the Stowe area and ...

Re: Nervous about missing foliage in Stowe Oct 11-15

Tim: I know a lot of this is totally dependent on weather conditions, but in your experience, when you reach peak (defined by the foliage estimators as 100%), does that condition last about a week or so after peak is reached, with some drop but still significant leaves and color?
