In Vermont this weekend
Was in South Central Vermont this weekend. Weather was unbelievable and there is some color breaking out. Hard Frost on Friday night (the farmer behind my cabin said it got to 26!) The Swamp (Red) maples are lighting up on the hills around Ludlow and Stratton. Going back next week and the 15 day for...

The smell of fall
CT, you really have described one of the best signs of fall. The smell of the earth, and the leaves and especially the ferns are some of the best things about it. PWT, I worked on a dairy farm when I was younger and the smell of manure actually makes me wish for younger days. People think I am nuts,...

Re: Bad Info
Cindy if you go that way, route 7 goes through some of the nicest parts of western VT/MA and CT. You will pass through Danby VT, Manchester VT, Williamstown MA, Sturbridge MA, Canaan CT, and Kent CT. Kent Falls State Park is at peak now. From Danbury CT you could take 84 West to 684 south to the Hut...

Re: Bad Info

It may take a little while, but if you could get as far south as Manchester there are some excellent shops and outlets as well. There is also horse back riding in Danby that we did a few years back which is fun no matter the...

Re: Phil's Phrantic Pholiage Tour
pwt, thanks for the tour you made near me. Sunday I went the back roads from Chester to the top of Okemo, climbed the fire tower and looked out. What a view! We then took 123 over to Ascutney and the toll road and hiked out to the hang glider launch. Bingo again, awesome views! I will follow your ro...

Chester Weekend Oct 7,8,9
Pwt and others: We have a little cabin in Chester and are going to be there the weekend of Oct 7,8,9. Any thoughts about routes that weekend? I was thinking the back way from Chester to the top of Ascutney? Chester itself has too many evergreen trees, so we need to move around. Also, where have you ...
