Re: Where Are The 30's Temperatures??

It's 35.2 F here in Enfield but no frost thankfully. Still have another month hopefully with the garden. It's below freezing around the quabbin area, but not in Connecticut. This early season cold should bring out the foliage color. Hard to believe it's going to be in the 80's this weekend. Hopefull...

Re: Where Are The 30's Temperatures??

Temperatures are currently in the Upper 30's around Killington with frost advisories and freeze warnings for much of New England. The NWS mentions the possibility of frost here in N. Connecticut tonight. Hopefully not as it's about 3 weeks too early. I find weatherunderground to be a good place to v...

Re: Where Are The 30's Temperatures??

Actually, Northern Maine dropped below freezing already. I know from some weather chat friend's that it did in Northern New Hampshire as well.

Near record cold in Maine on 9/13/19:

Re: Cool September This Year Could Mean Earlier Fall

Funny video about Fall in the South. I feel the same way when it's 90F + in September.

Re: Cool September This Year Could Mean Earlier Fall

The extended outlook for about the next two weeks looks about average to slightly below normal temperature wise. I don't see any drastic warmups and here in Enfield it looks like we are done with 80F + temperatures for a while. There's actually color change in spots around town, primarily with the H...

Re: Eight Years Ago This Week: Hurrican Irene Devastates VT and New England

Thankfully Hurricane Dorian is around here for the first week of September. If it was a month from now, foliage lovers would have mini heart attacks based on eventual track. Foliage season for 2011 was pretty awful, last year was similar in Massachusetts with rust colored foliage until leaf drop. I ...

Re: Fall foliage on Sep 20th weekend

The extended forecast for late next week is calling for temperatures about 10-15 degrees below normal. I wouldn't be surprised if there was even some frost in the NEK area. That should help bring out early season color.

Brattleboro VT Late Season Oak Foliage 11-11-18

I drove up to Mount Snow yesterday for some early season skiing. On the way back I took this picture of some remaining Oak foliage. The color is past peak by a few days and there's more Oak foliage in Southern Vermont than at home.

Re: Enfield - Glastonbury - Somers 10/25 - 10/26/18

Beautiful pics! Tomorrow we are goung to the Poconos (Jim Thorpe area, Carbon county), where according to the reports, peak is right now. However, today's storm will likely ruin most of it.... Thank you, we still have about 75% of our foliage of witch 25% is still green. I might follow the color al...

Re: Enfield - Glastonbury - Somers 10/25/18

I could kind of tell the foliage wasn't that great in SNE based on how quiet things became on this forum. Some more nice color today despite the abundance of clouds: Whites Pond, Granby: https://i.postimg.cc/9FtNYrKs/Whites-Pond-2018.jpg Enfield, a bit down the street from where I live: https://i.po...

Enfield - Glastonbury - Somers 10/25 - 10/28/18

I drove down to the Glastonbury area today to head into Meshomasic Forest. It's a Beech Forest with primarily yellow color in the fall. Foliage is near peak in the forest. On the way home I drove the side roads into Herbron/Andover/Coventry/Vernon/Ellington/Somers and back to Enfield. Foliage is pas...

Re: Enfield, CT - Color change rapidly occuring

I drove the backroads from Enfield through to Coventry. I didn't get to Stafford Springs as the forecast for sunshine today was a bust with solid overcast and poor lighting conditions. The foliage is about 75% torwards peak here in Enfield, near peak in parts of Ellington and peak and past peak in t...

Re: Enfield, CT - Color change rapidly occuring

Hey loafer, glad you deferred judgment on the foliage here! We still have green with little leaf drop and color emerging every day. I traveled around North Canton and Simsbury and West Avon today. The color is still early but coming on strong with a lot of reds and golds, less orange for some reaso...
