Re: Oct 5 Report. Rte. 232, Owl's Head.

Owl's Head and Ricker Pond today. If tomorrow's rain does not knock down a lot, definitely will be in top form this weekend.

Re: Oct 5 Report. Rte. 232, Owl's Head.

I was at Noyes Pond today. The trees at water level have changed around the entire perimeter of the pond, but the trees higher are still greenish/hints of yellow. It was very windy. Like the day before, the sky was slab gray and the light was pretty poor. It was difficult to guess at how it might lo...

Re: Oct 5 Report. Rte. 232, Owl's Head.

you were very near. take seyon pond road off 302, just a mile or two west and south of where 232 comes down into 302. my recollection is that there is a sign, small, on 302 for seyon lodge state park, and that if you are not paying attention you can easily miss it. if the area has colored up, it is ...

That makes the hike worth it.
By chance, did you get to Noyes Pond in Seyon SP?

Re: St. Johnsbury and north

Off Wheeler Mtn Road (which is off Rt5 just west of the Willoughby State Forest). This road becomes quite rocky and a bit of a challenge.

Re: St. Johnsbury and north

Also this, along 105 on From the NEK's wonderful route today. The reds and oranges just starting to pop.

91 from Barton to Lyndon also looked very good, pockets that were full of red and orange.

Re: St. Johnsbury and north

I went on From The NEK's central NEK loop today. Even with a few days to go to the peak it is a very wonderful route, so many places to stop and gape, so many wonderful vistas. If there is good light Monday or Tuesday it will be a great drive.

Re: significant increase color on rt 2 today

i got some really good shots at noyes pond in 2013, so i am spoiled. what "percent" of color would you say is there now? the impression i have from other posts is that it is ok, but still a ways to go. i was near there today, but it was gray and raining so i decided not to go. i am concerned that it...

significant increase color on rt 2 today

between st johnsbury and marshfield, and side roads. even some reds. not 2014 bright reds, but reds. macks mtn road also showing a lot of progress, mostly yellows, but good ones, dramatic against the greens--a lot of chartreuse, and against the black/wet tree branches in this area. a picturesque old...

Woodstock/Pomfret/Quechee

I drove my favorite roads in the Woodstock/Pomfret/Quechee area today. This area is still generally green and summery, although in the last two days some yellows have developed on a few roads. Foliage here looks sturdy enough to endure a few days of rain without much adverse effect. This is an Augus...

Re: Wow! Watched the Super Blood Harvest Moon rise over the mountain!

I was in NH today, 112 through Beaver Pond, the Kanc, and the Sugar HIll area. It was all quite green, even higher elevations on the Kanc. I usually head to these areas while I wait for color to arrive in VT. Most years the color is high in these areas by Sept 29. I would say it is seven to ten days...

Re: Minnesotaman: Rockingham Meeting House! Beautiful! Thanks for the tip!

Here now. I usually head up to the franconia area and north about now. From a post from today that i saw here it still seems a bit early up there, unlike last year. I will probably try the kanc or the Connecticut lakes up near the border in the next day or two.

Good to hear that you liked it. When the hills to the north are at peak it is a great place.
