Re: to pwt54
Good morning, Deb. I am glad to be of some help to you. I love to see others enjoy Vermont and New England as much as I do and like to share with others. Concerning Woodstock and Stowe, I will difinitely get back to you on those two spots. Woodstock is very special. We are staying there three nights...

Re: to pwt54
Me again, Deb! In my response to you several days ago, suggesting you go straight up Rt. 7 to get to Bennington, that was before I knew of your interest in the Mohawk Trail. Then today I sent you the Post on driving a scenic route from Sheffield, across southern MA, and then heading north towards th...

Re: to pwt54
Hi, Deb: In the post I made three days ago, I did make a mistake when I said "Sturbridge" as it certainly should have read "Stockbridge". I appreciate Geri calling attention to that. I know better as Stockbridge is one of my favorite villages. I will stay there again this year at the Red Lion Inn. C...

Re: Goshen to Ripton
Thanks for your responses, PWT and BM. It is good to know that those are good roads to take this year if the foliage should stimulate a desire to travel them. I love the back roads and the Gap routes, too. The Kelly Stand Road is a favorite of mine, too, when the foliage is right. A stop at the Grout...

Goshen to Ripton
Several years ago, I crossed over the Rochester Mtn. road and then took the Brandon Gap to Goshen. I turned right on Recreational Road 32 to Ripton. Fortunately, I was in a Yukon that had good ground clearance as it was a tough road to travel. Does anyone know the condition of it now? Is it a good r...

Re: GRANVILLE GULF - FAYSTON
Thanks, BM. That is exactly the post I was looking for in my search. That means that there are two routes I can take this year that I have not previously taken. I love to discover new scenes and views.
I appreciate your kind help.

GRANVILLE GULF - FAYSTON
PWT and BM: The two of you have posted some great information on the Forum. I cannot recall who posted information on drives in these two areas. I had written down the information but seem to have misplaced it in the Vermont vacation information I have accumulated. Can either of you repost for me th...

Re: en route to Vermont
The route to both places are very easy and scenic. You will be traveling through some beautiful country and should plan on taking it slow to enjoy your journey. From Sheffield, MA, to Bennington, VT, simply take Rt 7 North. Stop in Sturbridge, MA, and walk the main street. It gives you a wonderful N...

Re: Best gondola ride
Last October, we took the Gondola ride at Killington Mtn. in Vermont. It was a great ride and a super view of the color. If I remember right, I think it is the longest Gondola ride of them all. I certainly recommend it. Another ride we took a couple of years ago was Loon Mtn at Lincoln, NH. The view...

Re: Need Specifc Places to See
You give such good information, PWT. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with all on the Forum. Can you tell me how to print posts, such as yours, that give such excellent directions for scenic drives? I have not figured how to print them. I would like to print just a single post, rather than four or ...

Re: Mad River Valley Backroad Suggestions
Thanks, PWT. I have not driven that road and do not recall seeing it when I have driven that way. That is a great suggestion and I really do appreciate you telling me about it. This year will be in the neighborhood of 17 years of staying at the Round Barn, our favorite of B&Bs, and visiting the Mad ...

Re: Mad River Valley Backroad Suggestions
Thanks for that suggestion, BM. I will be in Waitsfield for two days so will keep that drive in mind. I have been up towards Fayston, and back to 100, but not all the way to the point you mentioned.
I think I have taken most of the other roads close by so will look forward to this new one.

Re: Good Places for Fall Foliage during Oct 14-16, 2005
Over the past few years, and having spent ten or twelve days touring New England each year in early to mid October, I have found the most beautiful foliage for the dates you mentioned can be found in central and western Massachusetts and in all the northern part of Connecticut. The brilliant fall co...

Re: Vermonts Top 10
Not in any preference order. That is too hard! When I am in Vermont, I just automatically think of Number 1! Some of my favorites are: *Woodstock and vicinity *Peacham-Barnet area *East Warren Road Valley, Waitsfield *Weston Village *Grafton *Plymouth Notch *Kelly Stand Road *Roxbury Gap Road *Inn a...
