Re: Connecticut Fall Foliage 2020

Oh my gosh! Connecticut is exploding in color! The recent rains and stellar sunshine popped out the colors even more today! Loafer, I did some of the roads you mentioned. The only caveat was that Barkhamsted Reservoir is still early but the colors are emerging, it won't be ready until this weekend. ...

Re: State foliage report for Thursday, October 8th

Hi Robb! Welcome to the foliage forum! :D I would drive around Bennington, Shaftsbury, route 7 corridor up to Manchester. Some reports on facebook/instagram say the color is great in Bennington, and a lot of green trees in Bennington remain. Try Shaftsbury Lake in Lake Shaftsbury State Park on 7A, A...

Re: State foliage report for Thursday, October 8th

Hi Bob: Have a fantastic time in Vermont! Sounds lovely! I think you will fare better this weekend in this location. Don't forget to drive around the back roads after all that shopping! CT

Re: Connecticut Fall Foliage 2020

Thank you for the compliment Loafer! The NW corner is my second home and I'm still finding more roads to travel! Where was the tree lined road you mentioned in Canaan? Did you go all the way on 44 to North Canaan because on Thursday, the south side of 44 in East Canaan was so early. The Cornwalls ar...

Re: Connecticut Fall Foliage 2020

Loafer: Mt. Greylock might have leaf blowout at the summit if you are taking the toll road. I think you may find nice color around North Adams but probably not route 2, Mohawk Trail. I expect many parts of Stockbridge and Lenox to be gorgeous, just lower elevations. Today we are spending the entire ...

Re: Connecticut Fall Foliage 2020

Bob: forgot to mention that I was at the Devils Hopyard with a hiking group a few years ago. Wow, what a place! Chapman Falls should be low due to our extreme/severe drought here in northern CT? Looking forward to your finds! CT

Re: Connecticut Fall Foliage 2020

Hi Bob, nice to see you back here! NW CT should be a prime target end of this weekend. I feel certain northern CT will survive the winds this afternoon and tonight as much of the state including the CRV (Conn. River Valley) are in early to mid stages with patches of peak everywhere. I'm looking forw...

Re: Southern Vermont, Sunday 10-4-2020 There's ALOT more great color forthcoming!

Hi Dean! Have a safe trip up. I'm sure you will be rewarded with color. Are you entering from the SE? Please let me know how it develops on the SE side before the weekend. I'm looking at Forest Road 71 to Somerset Reservoir and then Pine Falls Road to Stratton. Charles (ixl) from this forum took me ...

Southern Vermont, Sunday 10-4-2020 There's ALOT more great color forthcoming!

Hello SOV foliage friends! Let me begin with the drive into Williamstown, MA on route 7 where the ranges open up to a beautiful vista. This could well be gorgeous Columbus Day Weekend, still a bit early; it needs another week. (One of my favorite drives into VT via Pownal altho we didn't end up goin...

Hi BV, aspens will be just as nice. I was in Chester VT today and thought of you of course. (Stay tuned for trip report!) I remember when I first met you at the Chester Fall Foliage Festival years ago, and again during sugaring season where we went to your favorite sugarhouse. Gosh, I remember it be...

Re: When to See the Full Harvest Moon in Vermont! Where will you be?

Hi Minnie, that's an interesting fact - what's going to be even more eerie is the lack of trick or treaters this year (at least where I live). The last time Halloween was cancelled was when the October 2011 snow storm hit southern New England (10/28 and 10/29). It was pitch black at night for almost...

When to See the Full Harvest Moon in Vermont! Where will you be?

Good morning VT Fall Foliage Fanatics! Every year I post the date for the full harvest moon. Where will you be in Vermont to see it rise over the mountainside? This year’s Harvest Moon will peak on Thursday, October 1. It is nothing short of magical to see it rise over the ranges. It is also one of ...

Re: Cloudland - Woodstock area Sept 23

Hi Dean! You're back!!!!! :D Seeing that you are coming to southern VT locations, have you thought about taking the drone to Somerset Reservoir and having it fly near Mt. Snow as well? It should be in peak and the drone over those areas would be beautiful. The chairlift is running as well I think......

Hi Matt, these are very nice even with the phone. Did you see the post above under topics that explains attaching pictures and resizing guidelines? Perhaps that would be of help? CT
