Official - Post Your 2019 Foliage Pictures Here Thread
Britchess recently suggested that we start a thread to post your 2019 Foliage Pictures. I though that was a good idea, so here we go. You may post up to 3 pictures here directly as an attachment to your post, and/or you may post a link to your pictures on another web page such as Flickr, or your own...

Re: Can we make a thread for people to post their 2019 foliage pictures?
Britchess, that sounds like a good idea. Since the title of your thread doesn't necessarily make it clear that everyone should post their 2019 pictures in this thread, I talked to ctyanky that it would make sense to start a new thread with a different title, which I will do.

Re: What an atypical foliage season we had in Philly
triz, I live in eastern Massachusetts, and we also had an outstanding year for colors in the oak trees. The reds and yellows were much more vibrant than normal. I have oak trees in my front yard, and from raking experience I can say that we also had a "way" above average year for acorns, I don't kno...

Re: And Just When You Thought Foliage Season was Over
loafer 89 and Utah Baker, thank you for stopping by to take a look, i appreciate your comments. loafer 89, I agree, we had a a very good season for oak color in eastern Massachusetts as well (until this past week's wind storm). I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I have a large oak ...

Thank you ctyanky, I'm glad that you enjoyed my tamarack collection. I'd like to think that it is a good illustration that foliage does not only have to be about peak color, even stick season has it's own subtle beauty thanks to the tamarack tree.

And Just When You Thought Foliage Season was Over
During the last week of October I took a trip to the Northeast Kingdom to photograph Vermont's lesser known "Third" foliage season. The First season is the well known Maples, Beeches and other hardwoods. The Second season is that of the Oaks and late Beeches. And no, the third season is not Stick Se...

Re: Sunrise at Hogback Overlook 10/4
Great stuff! I'm surprised at the color that far South in the state. Pentaxguy, the Hogback overlook on Rt. 9 is at pretty high elevation, similar to Kelly Stand Road, and the Somerset reservoir, which I visited on Thursday. While these locations are in southern Vermont, they are at high enough ele...

Sunrise at Hogback Overlook 10/4
It rained overnight, and was still raining lightly when I left my hotel in Brattleboro at 5:45 am this morning. But by the time I reached the Hogback overlook on Rt. 9 near Wilmington, there were a few gaps in the clouds to the east. This allowed just enough light for a pretty spectacular sunrise. F...

Re: Southern Vermont Highlands Report
Triz, I would say Newfane / Townshend are 60% to 70% turned, but it varies by elevation. Some places there are still fully green, but some section shave turned. Stratton which is not that far away, but at higher elevation is near peak right now. The foliage is definitely 7 to 10 days ahead of last y...

Southern Vermont Highlands Report
On 10/3/19 I drove over Rt. 9 West from Brattleboro to as far as Rt. 71 near the Searsburg reservoir. Brattleboro along the river is still mostly green of course. The Hogback overlook was 90% of peak, including the foreground trees, as well as the long view. With a frost on Friday night, I'd say Hog...

Re: Autumn Bliss in the NEK!
Be sure to pace yourself ctyanky, September is way too early for foliage induced exhaustion !!!
Glad to hear your trip is off to a good start. Sounds like the foliage this year is way earlier than last year, so your prediction was right on the money.

Re: Jobs Pond - My Favorite NEK Foliage Location
Thanks, Ed, for your kind work about the book. As you might imagine, it was a (many hours) "labor of love." Best regards, You are welcome Andy. Your book has been a valuable resource for me, and I have recommended it to a number of people. To me it is very much in the spirit of the old Kaplan book ...
