pwt - I just realized that one of the routes you had already posted for me included Woodstock and Proctorsville - we're just planning to do it backwards. So, going from Proctorsville back to Waterbury via Ludlow, Rt. 4 and Rt. 100, any restaurant suggestions?

I remember PWT or someone on here mentioning a specific Vermont maps that are most helpful, but I can't seem to find the post. Could you share that with us again please? Thanks!

Proctorsville to Waterbury?

I am trying to come up with some itineraries for our trip October 8th - 13th so we have options to choose from while we're there. Our homebase is going to be Waterbury, but we have been salivating for some pies from the Original Vermont Apple Pie and Cheesecake Company since we polished off the last...

I think you are right BM. It just occured to me to go back and see if my posts from 2004 were still on here and they were. Very impressive that you still have things from 3 years ago! Anyway, here is part of what PWT told me that year: "When you are ready to ride, go to Hinesburg village and drive s...

Ahh. We used to have a Waffle House here. I miss it. I was wrong. It wasn't our trip last year - it was 3 years ago when I was pregnant. Sorry! That year we stayed in Hinesburg but drove all over, including up to Stowe and we stopped in Waitsfield. I have been wracking my brain trying to remember wh...

Thanks for the great info. as always PWT. The snow geese sound like a great idea. I can't believe you're going to be in Florida in October! We're keeping my folks from going to Florida for the winter as early as they would like because they will be joining us in Vermont for this little trip. We stay...

Too early for Fall 2007 questions?

In the interest of planning ahead, we have already made reservations for our annual October pilgrimage to Vermont. We're planning on being in Waterbury from October 8th - 13th. Any thoughts on whether that should be around peak for that area? I know it's too early to tell much so I'm asking about ge...

Re: Ludlow area after Columbus Day

Thanks for the suggestions PWT. 'Baby' is 18 months old and fairly good in the car. She does get carsick once in awhile, but heck, I would too if I was riding rear-facing going 55 MPH on a windy road. :) As long as we have time to take it slow and pack her lots of toys she should be fine. She'll jus...

Ludlow area after Columbus Day

For this year's Vermont vacation we splurged and reserved a rental house so the baby can have her own room. (Hubby snores something fierce.) We're going to be in Ludlow the 9th - 12th. Any foliage predictors for that area now that the time is drawing near? Thanks for all of the fun family activity a...

Re: my first uploaded photo

Beautiful photo pwt. I'm afraid I didn't do as well uploading mine. The first too are too small because I uploaded the thumbnail by mistake and the third one is too big because I forgot to resize it before uploading it. If someone wants to delete them, I can try again. (I couldn't figure out if ther...

Re: Official State Foliage Report

I was just reading the foliage report that pbpub posted and it reminded me of another eating establishment question. I remember a couple of years ago, someone on here, probably pwt, mentioned making sure to try and hit some kind of chicken dinner...like the kind they have at a church or firehall. Wa...

Re: Dining Suggestions

Although I have eaten in Burlington a few times, unfortunately I haven't made very good choices apparently because I've been disappointed each time. And I haven't eaten in any of the other towns on your list. However, if you're on your way from Burlington to Woodstock, etc., there's a place I would ...

Re: Trip with toddler in October

Thanks again for all of the information. We're still waffling between the first and second weeks of October. It's difficult trying to carve the time out because my husband is self-employed. If we go the 9th - 12th we're staying in Ludlow (as long as the house is still available by the time we are ab...

Re: Trip with toddler in October

So another question...what if we went further South...more like Bennington or Manchester? I guess I am asking...exactly where will peak color be that week. (Your best guess obviously.)
