Re: Where to go to see peak foliage the weekend of 10/12

It looks like Stratton is past peak after the rain. Thank you for the update. I think all mountains in VT will be past peak now right? Do you think if there will be at least one mountain with gondola ride will have some color left by Friday? Somebody suggested Mt. Tabor( don't remember if it was yo...

I'm heading up to Mt Greylock on Sunday if the weather is good. I'll post a report.

Re: Where to go to see peak foliage the weekend of 10/12

So you guys are suggesting not to go to VT at all? I really want to go to VT this weekend. I am hoping at least a few areas to have nice colors. But can't decide where exactly to go. Need help with that from the experts. How about Burlington, Bennigton? You mentioned that you were going to Stratton...

Re: Where to go to see peak foliage the weekend of 10/12

I'm thinking about heading up to Mt Greylock next weekend, but I haven't had any luck with good colored foliage in that location the past two years. Massachusetts in general has done poorly in regards to Fall foliage lately.

Re: Where to go to see peak foliage the weekend of 10/12

Here is a link to the mid-mountain can at Stratton. It look like peak right now to slightly past peak. There's 1" of rain forecast for today, so that might remove a bit of the foliage. Going forward a coastal storm is forecast for midweek, but it's unclear as to how much effect it will have on S. Ve...

Re: SAT 10-5 Foliage Report

As more time goes by and more of the Fall seasons have poor foliage quality, I'm starting to think it might be climate change. The last season that had good quality foliage color for all of New England was 2016. I could see one poor quality season, but not 3 in a row. I wasn't in far N. Vermont this...

Re: SAT 10-5 Foliage Report

I'm not planning on being in Vermont again this Fall for foliage. Alot of the state is near peak and the upcoming rain next week will put most areas past peak. I had a good time last month at Mt Snow with peak foliage in September. Here in Connecticut we have some really nice color around Enfield. T...

Re: SAT 10-5 Foliage Report

Outside of Killington, the landscape seemed to be acres of red/rust foliage. I did the drive on Route 100 North to Route 125, side roads to Route 17 and back to I-89. Nothing I saw made me want to take pictures. I'm not sure why the color was so poor.

Re: OFF-TOPIC: Connecticut Foliage

Frost advisory here tonight, this should advance the Fall foliage along. This is about 3 weeks earlier than normal. Right now it's about 10-15% changed with some nice color.

Re: Peak Color!

I'm heading up to Killington on 10/5 as it is forecast to be a rainy day tomorrow. Looks like peak foliage around that region right now. Any side road / back road recommendations for the Killington area?

Re: Where to go to see the fall colors?

Vermont will be past peak by 10/20. You might find foliage around Lake Champlain, but the foliage this year is about a week ahead of normal. As far as gondola rides are concerned, most ski areas stop Fall foliage operations on Columbus Day. The Green Mountain Railroad is running until 10/20 from Bel...

Re: OFF-TOPIC: Connecticut Foliage

I just took a drive around my part of Enfield and there are bits of developing fall color. Most trees have lost the Summer time green. There are bits of orange, yellow, red and gold foliage. I'm optimistic that with the colder weather coming in late this week, we will have a good foliage season.
