Re: Northeast Kingdom Update 10/5

Ed Great to meet you. Looks like you got some good shots. After Marshfield I headed up into the NEK, 114, 105, a lot of back roads. Stupendous color. I also stopped at Job's Pond around 930. The color was the best I have seen there, and I have seen it many times since 2001. What do you say about Noy...

Re: NEK Report 10/3

that barn is a crazy thing. there must be a story why it was built that way, but i cant imagine what it is. peacham still early, esp by comparison to the colors now in NEK, but everything seems to be changing fast so maybe by sat or sunday peacham will be ready. the "classic" peacham shot from the f...

Re: Which weekend for Woodstock to Waitsfield?

jack i have not been down to jenne this year--most years this would be too early so i have not bothered yet. in woodstock itself, and out on cloudland, north of woodstock, it is yellow and green still. more yellows have come in during the last day or two, but it has a way to go. jenne and south wood...

Re: Nice color in Pittsburg NH--Google Pittsburg NH Webcams

I abandoned plans to travel to portland today and instead returned to the NEK, up 91 to lyndon, 114 to 5, then 5A, then Newark Rd and Job's pond, then Island Pond and up 114 from there to norton pond, then back to west burke, bean pond, up 5 to barton, and back down 91. there is very good color pret...

Re: Nice color in Pittsburg NH--Google Pittsburg NH Webcams

i agree, a week or so in most areas, i would say. however, unlike last year, things look healthy. Last year the green was a dull matte color. not this time. this looks like a year with good potential if the weather continues in its current trend. people with plans for the NEK for next weekend are li...

Re: Nice color in Pittsburg NH--Google Pittsburg NH Webcams

I was up in northern NH today, including the triangular area bounded by Pittsburg, Colebrook and Stewartstown. This area presently has the best color I have seen by a factor of two or three (in the last three days I have seen most of the NEK, the US 91 corridor, the Kanc, and the Woodstock Pomfret a...

Re: Foliage forecast update

regarding the name "popple dungeon":

popple for poplar and similar types of tree

dungeon for the trees on either side meeting above the road, making it dark.

it is, i think, an old name for this road.

Re: New England trip for my friends with a toddler

i would say, based on my experience during the previous 17 (!) autumns in woodstock, that the color probably will be gone in woodstock by the time of your visit. there may be color still on some back roads out of town, but i would not count on it. color or not, woodstock is an interesting place for ...

Re: To Anyone Already in NEK 10/1 - Current Conditions?

I was at Noyes Pond on Friday. The color was not great, a combination of green, yellows, a few brick reds, and sticks. Often by this time there is red on the right hand side as you look across the pond from the boat area. At present it looked to be green and gray, some yellow, and only a little bit ...

The second image (and perhaps others) look like Kent Pond. Is it? You have posted many beautiful images of Kent Pond on this site over the years, you are the undisputed master of that place.
