Re: Foliage Report

Although I did not travel around nearly as much as PWT54 this weekend, I will concur that a lot of areas are still either hint of change or at an early stage of change. The areas north of Burke on 114 have now endured their 3rd frost of the year which may patially explain why the color there is a bi...

Central NEK Update 9-14-12

Central NEK Update 9-14-12 It is still early but color is slowly unveiling itself especially at the higher elevations. There are scattered maples with bright red fringes. The upcoming rain and cool weather this weekend/week should kick the color change into high gear. I'll have more of an update aft...

Re: Critique #5

Is this more in line with what is recommended? If not, anyone can feel free to modify the original as they see fit. http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn238/from_the_nek/Fall_shots/Dsc04037_180-1-1.jpg I didn't touch the saturation on this image. I'll have to check for the "Saturation" setting on th...

Critique #5

I already know I need a better camera to improve my picture quality (currently shooting with this: http://www.dpreview.com/products/sony/compacts/sony_dsch7 ) I finally got a polarizing filter (after foliage season  ) and I need to get a new tripod (I lost a leg off my $20 tripod somewhere aro...

Re: Critique #4

CT, you sound concerned that the silo is centered. However, the middle of the silo is actually about 10% left of center which keeps you from flagrantly violating that "rule" :D . I think there is a nice balance here between the silo and the peak vent on the top of the barn. Just a little more grass ...

What a weird foliage season

What a weird foliage season here in the NEK. We actually had a double peak (with neither being as good as a typical single peak). And it was easily the longest foliage season I can remember (over three full weeks now). The first peak was rather dull and occurred after our first hard frost during the...

Re: State Foliage Report No.6 issued Thurs Oct. 6th, 2011

I hate to report that parts of the NEK are passing peak (first hand account from the Lyndon/St Johnsbury area). The wind on Wednesday started the decline and the hard frost accelerated the drop. There are still quite a few leaves left on the understory in many places. but a lot of the crowns are bar...

Re: Thank you to the board (photos from trip inside)

That is an early morning shot looking up hill just past the WildFlower Inn. The time of day is really helping the colors there as those paticular trees along the road never really turn bright colors.

Re: Thank you to the board (photos from trip inside)

Great pics! Looks like you had a good tour of Northern VT.

The first picture is indeed Pudding Hill.
Here are the same trees from a slightly different angle on Monday (I drive by them every day :D ).

Re: OMG THE SUN IS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!

I love that May Pond picture. The conditions for that to all come together are extremely rare. The Rainbow, the foliage, and a fairly flat pond surface to provide a good reflection. The flat pond in the afternoon is a true rarity up there as at that elevation the wind is usually disturbing the surfa...

It's beautiful up there right now! Carol The Church shot is from the Back Center Rd in Lyndonville. The rest of the shots ar...
