Hazen's Notch Road

I know this is a dirt road most of the way and is about 10 miles from Montgomery Center to Lowell. I am wondering how difficult a drive it is for someone who is not that crazy about dirt roads. Two years ago we drove the Roxbury Gap road from Warren to Roxbury on the suggestions of people from this ...

Craft Fairs

Anyone ever been to the craft fairs at Stowe or Jay Peak? They will be going on during the time we are there--Columbus Day weekend-- and I am wondering if they are worth the time. Thanks.

Re: Driving From NH--Please help! :)

We were in the White Mountains two years ago on October 6th and 7th and I loved it there. Not quite as pretty as Vermont but really nice. The Kancamangus Highway is really pretty. We stayed in Lincoln--from Manchester I think it's about 80 miles. But as the others said, you might have trouble findin...

Re: Big Falls and Bingham Falls

Thanks pwt for all your help! I read all the threads here and really appreciate the info you give, especially on scenic drives. I seem to remember someone from a couple of years ago who worked at the info center in Montpelier. Is that you? You should write a guidebook on Vermont!

Big Falls and Bingham Falls

Can anyone tell me how to get to Big Falls near North Troy, say from the intersection of 105 and 101? And also to Bingham Falls off of Rt 108 near Stowe. Thanks!

Just Curious

I have been looking at the map of Vermont to plan our trip there in October. Can someone tell me what Bread and Puppet is? I see they have a museum near I91 and I am just wondering what it is? This forum is the greatest place to get good info about Vermont. Thanks!

Re: Too early for foliage?

There is a wonderful book called "The Covered Bridges of Vermont" by Ed Barna(I think that's his name.) We used it last year on our trip in October to Vermont and I highly recommend it! The directions are very accurate plus you get background info on each bridge. When you decide which areas of Vermo...

Re: Vermont Trip: sept 22-24

Kerry,
You have given us some great info on this forum. Thank you so much for all the details. I had decided against dirt roads until you assured me that they would be fine. Can you explain the floating bridge to me. Do you actually drive across it?
I don't think I can even begin to comprehen...

Re: Roads in Vermont

Thank you both for your suggestions. I am really looking for a way to get from Rt 100 near the Warren/Waitsfield area to Northfield Falls on Rt. 12. I prefer not to drive the road I inquired about if it is not paved all the way. As for Crosstown road, it is farther north than 64. It looks like it cu...

Roads in Vermont

Can anyone tell me about the road leading from Warren to Roxbury that is called Brook Road? And also Crosstown Road that connects Highway 12 and 89. Are these roads in good condition and suitable for driving?
