Re: Why no action on this forum ?
There was a time when this forum was the ONLY place for Vermont foliage information. Times have changed. Social media (and to some extent our national hunger for quick and easy soundbites and selfies) have created so much competition. There are numerous competing sites today - many of them apparentl...

Re: Beginner level DSLR
Sorry, I didn't see this until today. I may be too late :-). Assuming you haven't already bought a camera, here are some thoughts: Canon vs. Nikon . My neighbor drives a black Toyota Camry. I drive a white Honda Accord. I like my Honda. He likes his Toyota. In reality, other than some stylistic thin...

Re: Need info on Owl’s Head Trail
Glopal: If I am not too late, the short trail is right at the top of the parking lot. It is about a 1 mile drive up from 232 and the entrance is well marked. It doesn't open until at least 8:00, and depending on the day and time of day it can be hard to find parking, but once you do, it is a very sh...

Re: State of color
Hi, I'm new to the forum and just returned home from a trip to Vermont visiting my daughter, son-in-law and grandson. We were in the Waitsfield/Mt Ellen area from Sept 20 to Oct 5 and then in Huntington until Oct 9. The color around Mt Ellen on Oct 5 was pretty good and in Huntington it was about 5...

Re: view from Prospect Rock, near Johnson
I remember going to Prospect Rock in Johnson as a young person. I don't remember that view. I guess I wasn't paying attention to the view, as I was with my GF at that time
. Nice shot - nice view

Re: NEK Question
This may be too late, but it is open, but is a class 4 road and is narrow, rutted in places, and had some rocks. I was up there today. If you have a high clearance truck or suv, you will be fine. Wouldn't attempt it in a regular vehicle

Re: NEK-Need Recs on Places to Visit
I have spent that past several days in NEK. Color is less developed in Peacham, but as you go up in Elevation, it gets better. Mack's Mountain Road between Peacham and Danville is very good, with lots of reds and oranges and yellows (I won't comment on percentage of "peak" because I don't consider "...

Re: Lake Willoughby Best Viewed Date
LOL, I know there are some high views of the lake and I'll let Tim, or somebody who knows exactly how to get there give you directions. BUT .... I don't think that's what this is. I would bet this is a shot from Tim's Drone

Re: Foliage Report from the NEK 10/01/21
Hope you are kidding :-) . You can't sit inside just because of a few raindrops. If it helps, the more "local" forecasters, are showing gradually better as the days go by, with most of the rain being south after Sunday, and even Sunday and Monday being on and off rain. Take a rain coat and hopefully...

Re: Visitor from California - help needed to plan foliage viewing starting from NEK then going south
Prabal: A couple of thoughts: 1. One of your locations is labeled Barton Road Farm. Maybe just a typo, but to avoid confusion, while it is in Barton, the road is actually Burton (with a "u") Road :-). 2. You have East Orange on your list (I see a lot of locations covered in our book, and bet that is...

Re: Border restrictions are kept in place
Agree, Tim. Not just silly - STUPID, especially since Canada is allowing U.S. citizens in and has always been a good friend to us. Also, there is a lot of commerce between Canada and Vermont that is being stifled. I am sure they have some reason (one might be that the shear numbers of UK travelers m...
