Re: A Glorious Fall Preview in New England this Labor Day Weekend!

Ken: I read where Pricilla Roy passed away in Feb of 2017; Priscilla took over the store from her mother Jeannette Roy and they operated it for almost 70 years. The store is still in operation but not sure who owns it. I was looking at some hiking up there and found this info. CT https://www.faceboo...

Tim, just wondering if you have hiked this trail and where one would find the location/summit/lookout for this shot? CT

Re: A Glorious Fall Preview in New England this Labor Day Weekend!

Another glorious fall weekend is on tap for this coming Saturday and Sunday. It just keeps getting better and better! I hope you all can take advantage of this cool, autumn like weather to get outside and start enjoying the start of fall fever. I heard from Bogey and Bob (from the forum and from NH)...

Re: Patchy frost and 30s in the NEK this a.m., more 30s next week!

Hi Tim, this morning was our coldest in northern CT as well. 44 degrees; I don't ever remember wearing a down vest this early and it is only mid September! Alas, Thursday is supposed to be 80 and then we are back down to early October temps! This weekend is looking pretty amazing! Our DEEP (Dept of ...

Re: Fauci congratulates Vermont

Hi Tim, I also just listened/watched the full 2 hour press conference. Dr. Fauci is so articulate. He says it like it is. I thought they were going to mention the easing of the hospitality restrictions, but they must have run out of time. Maybe they will save it for the Friday update.

Re: Fall Foliage and Vermont Life Magazine

Hi Tim! I am one very lucky forum member who has a personally autographed page of your autumn 2016 two page spread. It is from when I met you at Long Pond (I believe it was there) in the NEK. I have it right in front of me. It is a true keeper. I also have the 2 page spread from 2017 here beside tha...

Re: We're Turning the Corner Towards Fall 2020. I'm ready.

Hello fall foliage fanatics! All my mums and fall decorations are now displayed! :D It has been consistently chilly at night here. I don't remember it being this cool so early in September at least for the last five years. I was hiking in beautiful Kent CT yesterday and could have used gloves in the...

Patchy frost and 30s in the NEK this a.m., more 30s next week!

Whoa! Just checked the weather up there and it is cold! A few more 30's in the northern tiers next week; mostly lows in the 40s with a TON of sunshiny days. Perhaps an earlier start to autumn? This is how it began in "normal" falls so many years ago. Time will tell; we can still see a few warmer nig...

Re: A Glorious Fall Preview in New England this Labor Day Weekend!

Hi Ken, yes I hike quite a bit up in Salisbury! I recently hiked Lions Head off of Riga Road. I'm sure that is how you got to Bear Mountain. At the summit of Lions Head, you can take the AT over to Bear Mountain. It was another six miles so we didn't complete that loop. There are many hikes off of R...

Re: Fall Foliage and Vermont Life Magazine

Hi Ken, I just saw your YouTube Series on the AT! It is so extensive! Wow. I didn't realize you were a thru hiker! I hope you get to finish the AT at some point now that you are retired! Just curious, you mentioned CT hikes. Do you remember which ones they were? I mostly hike in the extreme NW corne...

Re: A Glorious Fall Preview in New England this Labor Day Weekend!

Hi Hex! Thanks for the report. Looking forward to your next NEK update! My friends in West Charleston say the reds and oranges are really great! They have two vacation homes on Pensioner Pond where I was last year. I've always wanted to go to Great Averill Lake, there is a self contained family cabi...

Re: Fall Foliage and Vermont Life Magazine

I believe Vermont Life went out of print in 2018 due to diminishing subscriptions and lack luster content (lots of advertising); it seemed like it was going downhill for their last few years. I still have many back fall issues. Another magazine, Vermont Magazine , is still going strong, but I stoppe...
