Description Caleb Barber and Deirdre Heekin are the proprietors of osteria pane e salute, which has received acclaim from such publications as Bon Appetit, The Boston Globe, Boston Common, Food and Wine, and Travel and Leisure. In preparation for his role as head chef of pane e salute, Caleb initially apprenticed with an artisanal baker and in a small trattoria in Tuscany. Deirdre, also a freelance writer and essayist, has studied wine production all throughout Italy. She manages the wine program at the restaurant. They are joined by their core staff, New England Culinary Institute graduate and pastry chef/ chocolatier Erle LaBounty, and Dining Room Manager, Olga Martin. Erle LaBounty is also the proprietor of ER LaBounty Confections and FarmHouse Truffles.
