The DeerHill Inn is a Select Registry establishment with impeccable service and a nice laid back, country atmosphere.
The dining room's panoramic windows look out onto the Deerfield Valley. The restaurant has an excellent selection of fine wines and the standard of cuisine is up there with the other few dozen or so fine dining establishments in Vermont. Chef Michael Allen puts together a dining experience that has a broad appeal. His scallops, for example, when presented as an appetizer are fresh and sweet with no attempt to disguise the real taste with a thick sauce (often the case in other restaurants). His duck comes deliciously marinated in a dark, semi sweet sauce.
You can sort of tell the cusine is not the latest output from a culinary school or chef with years of experience at the New York Hilton. Rather it is the cuisine of a chef who has developed very much his own line of entrees that are bound to please a broad spectrum of palettes.

The DeerHill Inn proved to be a very delightful oasis of harmonious decor, peaceful surroundings and delectable meals. Imagine this: watching hummingbirds, cardinals and bluejays at the bird feeder while enjoying a complete breakfast. Relaxing in the comfort of a tastefully decorated room or reading on the adjoining balcony. Ending the day with a dinner fit for royalty from the appetizer right on through to the cappucino; no doubt was left in my mind that the meals at the DeerHill Inn are planned and presented by a chef who is totally passionate about the pleasures of the palate. Yes, pleasures abound at the Deer Hill Inn, the type that renew and nourish both body and soul.
