Covered Bridges Half Marathon
The Covered Bridges Half Marathon is an annual event that is held in the Woodstock area every year on the first Sunday June. The 13.1 mile course starts at the Suicide Six Ski area i South Pomfret, a few miles outside Woodstock and ends at the Quechee polo field. Along the way, the course takes runners through the Taftsville and Quechee covered bridges, past the tranquil Dewey Pond and ends at the Quechee Polo Field.
Runners experience an overall elevation change of about 200 feet, as the race starts at 740 feet above sea level and gradually declines throughout the race toward the finish, including a mild hill around mile 5 and a steep hill around the 8-mile marker.
If you’re thinking of signing up for the event online, don’t dawdle — every year, the race fills up quickly, sometimes within just minutes of the registration opening online.
The course for the race is USATF-certified, and runners will experience an elevation drop of about 200 feet between the starting and finish lines.
