Are the Pristine Conditions Over?

What some ski area marketing departments call " Funk" is now with us for a few days. That word refers to rain, freezing rain, and sleet. It is going to be with us for Tuesday and Wednesday. In addition, the warmer temperatures will cause a fast snow melt. As I remarked a few weeks ago, Vermont was in its "best conditions" scenario. That scenario has now ended and we may see a slow deterioration of the trails over the next week or so. If we get some more snow, that could change the situation. So while you will still be able to snowmobile, the pristine conditions are gone for the time being.

MLK Weekend Storm

Looks like there's going to be a nice dump according to freelance meteorologist Scott Braaten:

Forecast: Snow showers and areas of light snow push into the region late
tonight (4-7am), with snow becoming steady from the Green Mountain spine
eastward into the afternoon and evening.  West of the spine and into the
Champlain Valley we'll remain in lighter snow showers and flurries
throughout the afternoon before taping off later in the day.  East of the
spine, light snow will linger into Sunday night.

Total Accumulations by the time it tapers off Sunday afternoon/night will be
a dusting-2" in the Champlain Valley, 1-3" west slopes, and 3-6" from the
spine eastward (includes the ski areas).  There's the chance of some locally
higher amounts in SE-flow upslope regions, particularly along a line from
Killington to the Worcester Range.
