Ziggy: they run about 19.95-24.95 in local stores in Vermont. I prefer the Jimapco out of the three maps.
Re: MAPS, GUIDES AND BOOKS FOR VERMONT
Thank you! I contacted Jimapco and they are $12.50 online and could rush ship, but they said that's the same price in the gas stations in VT. I'm sure rush shipping would have cost me the same as it will in store, so I'm good to go getting it there Thanks!!
Re: MAPS, GUIDES AND BOOKS FOR VERMONT
You'll find it when you get there. I think the Jimapco is the easiest of the three to use. If you can't find it get the Cartographic before you get the Delorme. Phil might think otherwise but he has all 3 in his trunk with the Jimapco being the most worn out. I bought all three and still use them interchangeably. But do get one! You'll be glad you did!

Re: MAPS, GUIDES AND BOOKS FOR VERMONT
I have the DeLorme and the Jimapco. I dislike the former because they use a green background on the maps that renders the roads and names almost imperceptible. Somewhere in my house is the Jimapco (can't remember where I put it), but I can't remember the reason I didn't use it on our last trip two years ago. So I've ordered the Northern Cartographic...found a used one on amazon for, uh, gasp, $39.99. Hope it's worth it!

Tim! that seems like a lot of money for a used Cartographic! Are they that hard to find????? I bet you could have picked one up in VT for 20 bucks, which is what I paid! Anyways, maybe the Jimapco will turn up? I bet it is staring you in the face somewhere! Anyways, my favorite is the Jimapco and it is easy to read and highlight and the print is bigger.

Yeah, well, I'm tight as shrink-wrap about everything...except when it has to do with a trip to Vermont. What can I say? I'm in love with the place. Have been since my first foliage trip in 1982.

Northern Cartographics are collector's idems nowadays. You can find Jimmapcos at just about any convienence stores today.
Re: MAPS, GUIDES AND BOOKS FOR VERMONT
wow Phil, that's pretty interesting. A collector's item? No wonder Tim paid so much! My original price was 19.99 and I really don't remember when I bought it. I think I'll leave it home so I don't lose it! I have the Jimapco and Delorme and that should be good for the trip. Do you know when they stopped printing it?

Re: MAPS, GUIDES AND BOOKS FOR VERMONT
Just returned from 2 days in NEK, the best color is along Rt 16 near Glover area.
On the way home we stopped at gas station in Danville, like we always do, I went inside to see what new maps or books they have. Last year I got the Jimapco Vermont road atlas there. Today I got a wonderful Jimapco NEK MAP, wish I had it before. It's not easy finding some of those wonderful ponds etc that people on this forum talk about.

Re: MAPS, GUIDES AND BOOKS FOR VERMONT
If I may offer an anti-recommendation, I recently purchased "Scenic Driving Vermont: Exploring the State's Most Spectacular Byways and Back Roads". It was not worth the $8 I spent. It only features five drive and there are precious details on each.
For example, one of the drives starts with an unpaved portion on a forestry road. What kind of cars can travel it? Is it subject to washouts? You won't know from reading this tome.
No real recommendations of where to stop and view the scenery.
No side trips.
If you are looking for scenic drive recommendations, this site is far better than that book. And you just cannot beat the price!
