Both of the bridges north and south of Moretown were hit. The south bridge has been temporarily fixed, but the north bridge is stiil out. You can take route 100 to route 100b and then take route 100b north to Moretown. A bridge on route 100 south of Warren is in bad shape. They may have to knock it down and put in a temporary bridge. It may be a one lane bridge with traffic lights.

Here is another link that shows the same roads map but also a sidebar with links to other bits of information:

http://crisislanding.appspot.com/?crisi ... ng_vermont

This is the software that Google has made available to the state. It is meant to make it a lot easier for different agencies to find out what is going on.

A story for the Manchester paper on damage in the Arlington area and a brief note on Kelly Stand Road: http://www.manchesterjournal.com/headlines/ci_18796339

Looks like plans to photograph around the Green in Arlington might need to change depending on how they address damage to the covered bridge.

glad to hear Rt. 4 should be open by next weekend, because we'll be arriving in Killington the weekend after that--hopefully, some of our favorite Roads, Rt .108, Rt. 232, and the Northeast Kingdom roads are all ok

I thought you might be interested in seeing some of the aerial photos of Vermont shared by the Springfield MA Republican newspaper.

I have plans to visit the first week of October, but have to wonder if I can still "get there from here." Goof luck to the many hard-working folks looking to get things back to normal.

I read in the newspaper that routes 106, 107, and 131 are closed indefinitely. You folks planning on doing the Jenne Farm shoukd be okay. The damage appears to be south of there. They have the section from the junction of route 131 down to North Springfield marked closed.

My cousin larry stiopped in for a quick visit and a coffe this morning. He says that the Bethel Mountain Road between Bethel and Rochester is closed on the Bethel side. It may not be open for foliage season. Routes 106, 107 and 131 will not be open for foliage season. Route 106 is open from Woodstock to the Jenne Farm Road.

September 7, 2011, in this thread, mmvt shared the Vermont Transportation's website. It has a wealth of information.
Go back to mmvt's 9/7 post and make repeat visits to this website for updates. Be sure to view the far left column: VTrans Irene Spotlight. Click on The Vermont Routing Information FAQ. It will provide travelers with great alternate/detour routes for some of the highly traveled roads which may be closed.

The Irene Photo Gallery also has numerous updated pictures which supports some of the reports of road closures that people have been sharing and the pictures will definitely convey why some roads will remain closed longer.

Thanks to all the Vermont Transportation's dedicated employees, all the volunteers and all the caring folks on this website who have been working together to assure that people have access to information and traveling in Vermont!

ROUTE 12A - 3 Bridges Reopened: Burlington Free Press, 9/14/11

MONTPELIER — "The Vermont Transportation Agency says three bridges have been reopened on Route 12A making it easier for residents of Roxbury, Granville and Braintree to reach the outside world. But one washout remains in Roxbury that will take some time to repair so full access to the area has not yet been re-established.

Two of the re-opened bridges allow Roxbury residents to travel north to Northfield and west to Route 100 over the Warren Mountain Road. The third bridge allows Roxbury residents to reach Randolph along Route 12A.

The remaining washout is just south of the Carrie Howe Road in Roxbury. Plans to build a new bridge are being made. Work on that bridge is to begin later this fall."
