Looking to Buy a property in Vermont

Postby Limerick » Mon Apr 01, 2002 6:59 pm

I am interested in buying a property in Vermont. I would like to get a property that is accessible to both skiing and lakeside facilities and be able to accomodate between 4-6 people. I would use this often in both Winter and Summer and also try rent some weeks to recoup some of the mortgage. Any advice on some brokers that can help me would be appreciated.
Thanks
Brian

Carefully check out any town's act 60 situation. Most towns with ski areas are taxed at a punitive rate and then fined if they want to improve or even repair their schools. Very often towns adjacent to ski towns offer wonderful properties at much lower purchase price and lower taxes. If you go skiing 60 times a year and add 30 minutes to the travet time each trip thats thirty hours, factor in potential tax and mortgage savings of $6000 per year then the travel time nets you $200 per hour.. not too bad really.

------------------
Aleks & Michiko Hunter
Old Town Farm Inn
665 Vt.
