Greetings all-
I just read that this Saturday is going to be the biggest FULL MOON of the year - i am hoping that our local weather forecast will be clear as I'd like to try some early evening 'moon rise' photos. ANyone else going to capture the full moon!?
May 5 - FULL MOON Photo ops
Re: May 5 - FULL MOON Photo ops
Hi MMVT: Due to cloudiness in my area we were unable to view the Super Moon. I was truly disappointed! I've been waiting to see this event for quite awhile and Mother Nature just didn't cooperate!
A little birdie told me that someone in your neck of the woods got an amazing shot of the Super Moon and was hoping that that person could post it here on the photog forum!
Will have to wait another year but the full Harvest Moon remains my favorite! Wonder why!

I didn't exactly shoot the moon on Saturday night, but I was in Yosemite National Park and I photographed a moonbow. The light from the moon, passing through the mist of lower Yosemite Falls created this remarkable scene. The moonbow is difficult to see with the human eye, it only appears as a grey arch by the waterfall. With a 10 second exposure, the camera will capture the colors. Furthermore, such a long exposure makes the photo appear as though it was shot during the day.
I hope all of you will enjoy this photo as much as I do.

Al: I never heard of a moonbow before! What a shot! Hard to believe this was taken at night. It is really beautiful!
mmvt: Thanks for posting the Supermoon photos! They are also great. The second one reminds me of Halloween - very eerie! There is a leaf or something in the middle that looks like a witch riding her broomstick!!!
Lucky for you that the evening was clear.
Anyone else have any Supermoon photos from last weekend?

Al,
You just keep amazing me and inspiring me to do better. That is an incredible shot.....yes, I do love it as much as you.
MMVT,
Awesome job as well. I love your golden color supermoon. I photographed the Supermoon last year (My images not as good as yours) but it was a spectacular sight to see, and I loved watching it turn from orange to yellow to it's usual color.
I'm so glad you both posted these. I am sitting in the waiting room of the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital where my father has been a patient for the past 5 days. No Supermoon for me this year, so I lived vicariously through you! It's very nice that there is a computer here for visitors to use.
Thanks so much for sharing!

Thank you so much for the thoughts and good wishes Janice. I wish I could say things are better, but we take one step forward and two steps back with my father. Believe it or not, he is still in the hospital......it's been 4 weeks now.....and just when he is almost ready to go to rehab he has another setback. It has been an emotional roller coaster and not a ride that is enjoyable in the least.
Thanks again,
Carol
