Kb85,
A friend and I have will be in the Northeast next week and have a couple of free days(Thurs-Fri, Oct 18 & 19). We want to come to Vermont to take in the foliage. Do you think we'll be too late? We could just as well stay further south---NY, MA, or Connecticut. I'd appreciate your assistance.
------------------
Jeanne

I would stay in the south. The Stowe area peaked last weekend. It is still pretty good, but another week will see mostly brown color. From the looks of things, the week of the 14th to 20th should be just fine in southern Vermont.
------------------
Timothy Palmer-Benson [Mail:tim@pbpub.com]
** Web Publishing for Vermont **
*** http://www.scenesofvermont.com ***
**** Tel:802-895-4295, Fax:802-895-4635****
*****Box 219, Morgan VT 05853*****
___________________________________
[This message has been edited by pbpub (edited 10-10-2001).]

I live in NW CT and the leaves will be at peak by Oct. 17th. The Berkshires, MA will also be pretty then. Mt. Washington Road (above South Egremont) is one of my favorites (usually bike ride it). Visit Bash Bish Falls, drive or hike up Mt. Everett. You can continue into CT, but the road turns to gravel over Mt. Riga and down to Salisbury, CT. There are great hikes off of this road (Bear Mountain, Brace Mountain and Bald Peak), also pretty lakes. Visit Merck Forest Preserve for walks, walk up Mt. Antone, stroll through the fields, it is located in Rupert, VT. Drive Route 9 between Bennington and Wilmington. See Somerset Resevoir. Visit the charming village of Grafton,VT. Go to the Townsend Dam and walk along the West River in Townsend State Park. Pick up a Vermont Atlas & Gazetteer to locate all the tiny roads and simply meander.
