You'll probably be hitting the end of "peak" foliage in Ludlow at that time-usually central and southern VT color peaks during the first week of October and into the 2nd. As a general rule of thumb, you usually see peak foliage in Southern VT (Bennington area anyway) around Columbus Day Weekend (Oct 6-8 this year). There should still be color for you in Ludlow then though, but if you get there and find that the color is not bright enough for your liking, drive south! Check out this website's foliage map and reports for a better idea of what to expect.
