When is the best time for colors all over New England?

I'm an amateur photographer and I would like to know when is the best time to photograph the colors all over New England? Right now, I'm planning on leaving Monday, but I can postpone my trip up to a week and a half if that's the best time. I'll be driving from Omaha, Ne. and it'll probably take 3 days to get to where I want to be.
