Hi
We are planning to drive Route100 from NYC, leaving NYC early Sunday Oct 2 morning and plan to stay in Brandon.
Monday Oct 3, we plan on leaving Brandon to drive thru the Adirondack Park to Syracuse, NY.
Request :
- would that be too much of a drive ?
- any suggestions for a B&B in or around Brandon ?
- is it a good idea to get to Brandon ro any suggestions for a nicer place close by ?

Hats off from this Texan to the people keeping this forum going - wonderful wonderful job. Much appreciated.

Thxs much in advance.

hi BM...
thxs for the Route 53 tip. We will give it a shot.

Dont think we will have to time to make it further North from Brandon. From the other posts, its seems like the colours are late this season...guess we just will have to enjoy whats there. :-)

For the lodging, we might just wing it since its not exactly the weekend.

thxs a bunch.

Your first day looks doable. You will want to get to Brandon as fast as possible to have time to do BM’s ride. If you can’t find a place in Brandon, try Rutland or Killington. Your second day may be a long one. If you are staying in Brandon, take route 73 west all the way to the end at route 74 in Shoreham and turn left. Take the ferry across to NY , where you will continue route 74 west to the end in Schroon Lake. Turn right on route 9N north and take that to route 73 west through Keene Valley ( real gawking place) to Lake Placid. Take route 86 to Saranac Lake and then route 3 west to Tupper Lake. Take route 30 south to route 28 in Blue Mountain Lake. Then take route 28 south or west to Utica NY. If you are staying in Rutland or Killington, take route US 4 west to route 149 west in Fort Ann, NY. Turn left and go about a ½ a mile to pick up I-87 north. Take I-87 north to exit 30 and get off. Take route 9 north a short way to pick up route 73 through Keene Valley.
