Budget weekend - Sept 2005

My husband and I are planning to drive down to Vermont over Sep 23 weekend and spend a couple of nights there. Being students, we are looking for something budgety but are also hoping to get some great foliage vistas. Any advice on lodging, drives, things to do etc. would be very appreciated.
Thank you!

Thanks for the information. Our budget would be approx. $80 a night on lodging. Is that undoable?

The Comfort is too expensive. Yankee Traveler is about right. You can also try the Holiday Motel(not the Inn)and the Lynburke. Foliage season is a special event in Vt., so prices do go up. You could try the Newport/Derby area also.
