Please consult our foliage maps. They offer the best over all prediction about when and where to see foliage at different weeks during the season. Foliage season usually starts in northeastern Vermont around the first or second week in September, then gradually moves south.
You can view the maps at:
http://www.foliage-vermont.com/fall_maps.htm

Also keep checking the front page on foliage -vermont for the twice weekly foliage reports.
And if you have'nt booked accommodation, do it now!!
You can find some of the best inns and b&bs in Vermont among our listings.

------------------
Timothy Palmer-Benson [Mail:tim@pbpub.com]
** Web Publishing for Vermont **
*** http://www.scenesofvermont.com ***
**** Tel:802-895-4295, Fax:802-895-4635****
*****Box 219, Morgan VT 05853*****
___________________________________

For Labor Day weekend, I'd head to northern Vermont, probably the Northeast Kingdom for the most foliage. You're going to see some around Killington, Sugarbush/Mad River Valley and Stowe, too, at that time, but probably not in vast amounts. Already I can see signs of leaves turning here and there on all the hillsides, even in Quechee and Woodstock, but certainly not with much intensity yet, and it's still sporadic. A lot can happen in three weeks, which is how far off Labor Day is right now, but your best best presently is to head north and hope for the best...the further north, the better the chances of more color. Also with higher altitude in the mountains, you'll see more color...it starts at the top of the mountain and works its way down, just as it starts in the north and works its way south, so there are a number of variables at play. Also, if you haven't made your reservations yet, I recommend you do so quickly for Labor Day weekend. Have fun! Susanne
