Will be in St. Johnsbury area on the 4th & 5th and had plans and reservations to head over to the stowe area on the 6th & 7th, should I cancel Stowe and head south for woodstock area for Peak color?? Looking to photograph lots of RED & ORANGE. Any advice would be great, thanks.

I was there on Wed and the peak color was only at the higher elevations. The town itself still seemeed a week away, so you SHOULD be alright.. but I'll be back on Monday and will try to report back if I can get online. --c

Charles, does it seem to you that the foliage changes are slowing down? I could have sworn that Stowe would be peak this weekend. You don't suppose that our summer weather the last 2 weeks has the trees fooled?

Thanks Charles,

Would be great to get a first hand report of the conditions in that area.

It's been a somewhat strange season.. but I don't have a lot of experience with leaf peeping, this being only my second active season.

The weather will be much cooler this week so I think the few remaining green areas are going to start changing more dramatically. I wouldn't be surprised to see some white on the mountaintops by next weekend either. --c

If you don't mind asking, bm, what part of Addison County is that?

I'll guess Monkton...I have cousins in Hinesburg, so I know the area a bit...but there are lots of little towns in that area...now that I think of it, Monkton might be Chittenden...whatever, I get the idea. Looks to be an interesting week ahead...things really seemed to slow down.

Good news for me!

My brother works in Stowe and he doesn't think it's quite peak yet. I think you'll be alright. I was there near sunset and couldn't see too much but I did get a good look at Hunger Mountain and it was colorful but a little dull. Looks like peak wiil be in a couple of days.

I heard from a local in Waitsfield today that the areas in the northeast Kingdom are at peak, not Stowe yet.
