My husband and I are celebrating our 10 yr. Anniversary this year and want to know if anyone knows where peak folliage time will be this year during October 5-8th. We are first timers to Vermont and I am a photographer, so we're looking for a place to stay for a few days where I can get some great pictures.
Is there a place that gives fall 2001 folliage reports and forcasts?
PS. this forum has been pretty helpful

Dear Texas,
This web site has up-to-date foliage reports in season, also www.1-800-vermont.com and www.thinkvermont.com will have them. Generally speaking, it's difficult to predict this time of year...we need to see how summer turns out, whether it's cold or hot, wet or dry, etc., to give it an accurate prediction. I will say that in most cases, you'll find peak foliage in central Vermont at that time...if not, you'll be centrally located and can head north or south in a short time to capture the peak colors once you're here. That said, I will also say it is truly not possible to predict it anywhere near accurately now. However, you have chosen dates that will get you peak foliage somewhere in the state, so if you plan to stay somewhere near the middle, you should be in or near the best colors. Keep checking this site as mid-August approaches, and you'll start to see more specific comments and advice about the foliage. Susanne
PS: You need to make reservations ahead of time, it's never too soon to do so for the first week of October...I'd recommend Woodstock www.woodstockvt.com, Quechee www.quechee.com, the Killington area www.vermontcrossroads.com or Mad River Valley/Warren & Waitsfield www.madrivervalley.com at that time of year. Also check www.easternvermont.com, includes Woodstock, Quechee and other areas of east-central Vermont.
[This message has been edited by svmoderator (edited 05-28-2001).]

Now we have www.foliage-vermont.com! Check it out, it's linked to this site, too. If you're driving around the state this week, look closely at the hillsides...you can see a change in color beginning already. It's subtle, but it's there...fall is on the way! Susanne
