Color seems to be emerging more slowly than in previous seasons in the northeast Kingdom. We've had warm temperatures in the last week and it was only this morning that we woke up to temps in the 50s. Perhaps this is why the foliage color has a somewhat frizzled look so far with he stressed trees provided most of the color. You can see that color is still in

its early stages in the picture attached of Lake Memphremagog, looking west from the Newport area.

Thanks for the update. Where is proximity is this to the Warren area? Hoping the slight delay will time nicely with our trip up there the weekend of 10/15 (although I realize all it takes are a few nights in the 50s for things to accelerate).

Memphremagog is a huge 30 mile long lake at the top of northeastern Vermont. About 2/3rds of it is in Quebec. It is on the northeast side of the state, and north east from Warren. I think color will appear quite suddenly here at the end of the month and that the Warren area will follow about a week later. So under that scenario, your arrival there in mid October might be spot on or pretty close. It was another warm day here in the north; shorts and T shirt weather and not particularly crispy mornings. The foliage here also has the dark brown look before a color burst.
