hi, I worked on a kibbutz for several months in Ashkelon. Hard work, up at 4 to work in the fields, done by 8 and the rest of the day on the Mediterranean Sea by bike. I understand that "defining" feeling! I remember every moment I was there. I left a week before the war! Soldiers everywhere we went. It was a bit different to say the least! Not sure it has changed much. I hitchhiked the country with a friend from Boston but wouldn't do that in this day and age! I was about 21 I think.....
